(Québec) Seulement un des deux hommes arrêtés par la police de Québec, dimanche soir, en lien avec la fusillade à la grande mosquée de Sainte-Foy, est toujours considéré comme suspect. Il s'agit d'Alexandre Bissonnette, 27 ans, connu pour avoir déjà tenu des propos identitaires.

L'homme qui a lui-même appelé la police pour dénoncer son crime alors qu'il se dirigeait en automobile vers le pont de l'Île d'Orléans est Alexandre Bissonnette, un jeune homme qui a grandi à Cap-Rouge. D'ailleurs, les policiers ont visité dans la nuit de dimanche à lundi la résidence de ses parents, située rue du Tracel. Ils y sont retournés lundi matin.

Selon le bottin de l'Université Laval, Bissonnette était inscrit en sciences politiques. Il était auparavant en anthropologie. «Il était pratiquement dans tous mes cours. C'est un solitaire. Il n'a pas vraiment d'amis», raconte un collègue étudiant.

François Deschamps, membre du comité Bienvenue aux réfugiés, créé il y a un an lors de l'arrivée massive de Syriens au Canada, a reconnu la photo d'Alexandre Bissonnette publiée par Le Soleil. «J'ai fait le saut quand je l'ai vu», lance-t-il au bout du fil.

«On observe beaucoup ce que font et disent les gens d'extrême droite. Lui, il a tenu des propos identitaires sur notre page Facebook. Il agissait comme un troll. Il s'attaquait aussi aux droits des femmes», se souvient M. Deschamps.
Un seul suspect, confirme la SQ

Alexandre Bissonnette a un frère jumeau. Les Gagnon-Dufour se souviennent surtout du lien qui unit les deux frères. «Ils ont vraiment un comportement de jumeaux soudés. Oui, ils étaient introvertis. C'est comme s'ils se suffisaient», rapportent-ils.

Lundi matin, on ne disposait encore que de très peu d'informations sur le potentiel second suspect.

Or, la SQ a confirmé peu après midi lundi qu'il avait été rencontré mais n'était pas retenu comme suspect. Il est désormais considéré comme un témoin.
Une heure et demi de terreur

   19h55 Premiers appels au 911. Au moins un homme masqué et armé de fusils d'assaut tire dans la mosquée.
   20h06 Des policiers arrivés sur place appréhende un premier suspects. D'autres policiers à l'intérieur de la mosquée font le décompte des victimes. Certaines, qui succomberont de la suite de leur blessure, étaient toujours vivantes à l'arrivée de la police.
   20h12 Pris de remords, un second suspect contacte le 911 pour avouer son crime. Il est dans son véhicule en direction de l'île d'Orléans. Il menace de se suicider.
   20h16 Les policiers terminent de fouiller l'intérieur de la mosquée au cas où d'autres tireurs s'y trouveraient.
   20h16 Commence l'évacuation des fidèles présents. Chacun doit s'identifier et passer à la fouille avant de quitter les lieux sous escorte policière.
   21h00 Alexandre Bissonnette, 27 ans, est arrêté après être sorti de son véhicule qu'il avait stationné en bordure de la bretelle d'accès au pont de l'île d'Orléans
   21h15 Les blessées ont tous été évacués et transportés vers le CHUL et l'Enfant-Jésus. Le Groupe tactique d'intervention pénètre dans la mosquée pour une ultime vérification.
