So me and the lad aged 17 are off to New York.
OH not a fan of US so wont be coming with us.
We will be 3 ladies of a bit of an older age , a 10 year old and the 17 year old.
What shall we do? My Lad will want to look at fashion but guess both the boys will want to look gaming stuff.
So Nintendo shop
Brooklyn for my lad

Re: New york
Definitely do the touristy stuff -- Statue of Liberty, go up the Empire State building, visit Rockefeller Center and see the skating rink, go to Times Square, etc. Depending on how much time you have, you can also visit Greenwich Village and Chinatown.
Re: New york
I think we will be there when it is Chinese New year.
My passport ran out, now in Durham at a nice hotel overlooking the river opposite passport place. Hope I've filled in all right for tomorrow.
Oh, well nice extra holiday to get passport and visit husbands relatives in the North east

My most vivid memories of my last trip across the pond are...(a) being propositioned by a "lady of the night" at 8.30 in the morning in Wilshire Boulevard, LA when I was desperately seeking a source of baccy for my pipe; (b) picking up my hire Chevvy at LAX, only to find that it was an auto - something I had never previously driven; (c) joining rush hour traffic...and not having an earthly clue where I was going and (d) finishing up in an area of LA that was, apparentlly, a definite no-no for tourists (South Central?) and being pulled over by a very understanding cop who, with commendable good humour, sent me on my way - in the right direction.
Great country, and I'd love to go again but for the fact that my passport has expired and I'm just too ancient to go about getting a new one.

Get a new passport, you only live once!Fred Moletrousers wrote:Ben Reilly wrote:Definitely do the touristy stuff -- Statue of Liberty, go up the Empire State building, visit Rockefeller Center and see the skating rink, go to Times Square, etc. Depending on how much time you have, you can also visit Greenwich Village and Chinatown.

My friend meeting us the next day was born in Libya on an army base, UK passport but she always gets a bit of hassle. Hopefully she will get through this time.

I don't think I need one now, Bella. I don't go much further than Milton Keynes these days, and Trump doesn't have a great deal of influence there!

Fact is, Bella, that I'm one of those lucky people who can truly say "been there, done that...and got the t-shirt."
Been to America, Mexico, Far East, Middle East, a lot of Africa...got shot at on the Golan Heights (the bugger missed, fortunately), stood at the birthplace of Christ and with my feet either side of the equator - cried like a baby on the Rock of Masada, flown in everything from a Tiger Moth to a jet bomber and an airship...not a lot left on my bucket list now.
About the only place I regret not having visited is Australia - I would have loved to see Ayers Rock. Somehow Milton Keynes can't quite match that!
