Country’s politicians warn against fake news after Breitbart website said group chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ vandalised church on New Year’s Eve. German media and politicians have warned against an election-year spike in fake news after the rightwing website Breitbart claimed a mob chanting “Allahu Akbar” had set fire to a church in the city of Dortmund on New Year’s Eve.

After the report by the US site was widely shared on social media, the city’s police clarified that no “extraordinary or spectacular” incidents had marred the festivities.

Justice minister Heiko Maas warned in mid-December that Germany would use its laws against deliberate disinformation and that freedom of expression did not protect “slander and defamation”.

Can there be such a law to prevent slander and defamation against fictitious people?

The news was real... the guardian was seeking you cover it up by downplay it and deny the truth...

There were huge numbers of attacks a year ago in Germany on NYE... the authorities said all was quiet and peaceful...

In France there are regular scenes of Muslim immigrants kicking off/rioting in areas and setting fire to cars etc... media silent...

And same in Sweden... now also the rape capital of the world due to Muslim immigrants attacking women on an industrial scale up there... media silent... and even the govt there deny and cover up...

They never covered it up.
The guardian did not cover up the grooming scandal either. They as stated gave an opinion on the issue, that was biased.

So you have so far not even provided a single case of a cover up by the media knowingly doing so and you claimed huge.
