Hillary Clinton now leads Trump by 1.8 million votes
Hillary Clinton not only won the popular vote in Tuesday’s election. It is now clear that she won it by a margin larger than two candidates who went on to win the presidency.
David Leonhardt, a columnist for The New York Times, noted on Friday that with a 1.7-percentage-point popular vote lead over Donald Trump,Clinton will have a larger margin of victory than Richard Nixon had over Hubert Humphrey in 1968 or John F. Kennedy had over Nixon in 1960. (Her edge is also larger than Al Gore’s popular vote victory over George W. Bush in 2000, though he too was stymied by an electoral college loss.)
In raw numbers, that amounts to an edge of roughly 1.8 million votes as of Saturday.

But perhaps not all that irrelevant. What Trump won is another question. It may be a hopelessly dysfunctional America. As we speak, the decision is being made for Chief of Staff, the second most important post in Washington. The choice is between Steve Bannon, former chief of Alt Right website, Breitbart, who trashed Republicans unmercifully during the campaign, and Reince Priebus, Chair of the Republican National Committee.
Remember, Trump promised to drain the swamp, meaning he would oust all career Republicans, and replace them with novices like himself. The problem is, now we hear talk about how career Republicans will provide experience, while serving to temper Trump's wild side. Steve Bannon or career Republicans? Who will it be?
If Trump appoints Steve Bannon, he'll get no experience in government and we'll continue to hear the trashing of the likes of Paul Ryan, Newt Gingrich and other career Republicans. If, however, he chooses Reince Priebus, Trump's base may well abandon him, saying he's just another establishment sell-out. Without his base to support him, Trump is left all alone with all those Republican enemies he made along the way.
Of course, he will likely have those enemies anyway, but missing would be the voices and the crowds that fueled him all along. Instead, he'll have opposition from all sides, and won't it be lonely?

Being irrelevant to you does not mean it's irrelevant to others.Tommy Monk wrote:

Election results are always analysed in minute detail by the losing side to learn lessons, improve strategies, etc.
A post mortem does not bring back a deceased person or change anything -
but no one describes it as "irrelevant" cos it can yield a ton of extremely useful info for all concerned.

But as you say... it won't change the fact that they are dead...
