Had any halloween callers yet?
None here so far....usually we have lots.
They had better come, cos I'm not eating all the sticky sugary rubbish I have bought to give away.

None here either, unless they came while I was in the shower. Eating the chocolate now

I wish I had bought chocolate instead of 2 big bags of assorted sugary rubbish.
We just had 2 callers....a witch and a demon, I insisted they take big handfuls of sweeties, better their teeth rot than mine.

Awww...hahaha, that's funny.
A couple of years ago my OH bought a rubber mask and when the kids called (we used to get loads, not sure whats happened this year) anyway, he opened the door wearing the mask. One little girl ran off screaming. Her dad who must have been at the end of the drive marched up and demanded to know what had happened. OH had taken the mask off by now and looked all sweaty and guilty.
He didn't do that again.

Re: Had any halloween callers yet?
I've just got in and I'm actually rather annoyed by the ring of the doorbell followed by banging on the door.
Why do mums allow that?
I take my daughter and only knock on doors where the houses are decorated and if they don't answer after one ring of the doorbell we move on.

I agree Eddie, and not everyone wants callers.
We don't dress the house up or put a pumpkin in the window but we have the outside lamp on and the curtains open so all the lights are showing.

Is this Halloween or bonfire night?
I only ask because trick or treaters are thin on the ground yet fireworks are going off in all directions....it's a funny old world.

My daughter's street has lots, and they have decs and things in the windows so they know where to knock.
I close my curtains so I suppose they think I'm out and don't knock. Oh well, chocolates nice though.

Re: Had any halloween callers yet?
It's the door banging I object to. I'm a very forthright person at times (see, moody) and I shouted down the stairs "The fact I'm not answering the door...means I'm not answering the door!!!"
Seriously! I love kids and I love Halloween but if I don't answer the door after one ring then don't start hammering on my door like you're beating a car door panel!
Bah fucking humbug you little shits.

You had no intention of giving that chocolate to callers, I hope you get fat.

I already said I agree with you.
We just had a lone caller...he was about 6 foot with a scream mask on. He didn't really make much of an effort but I am desperate to get rid of all the toffees so I asked if he had younger brothers and sisters, he said yes, so I insisted he take handfuls of sweets to put in his sack.

I see nothing cheerful about playing tricks on people who just want to be left alone.

No I didn't, it's mine lol. I'm not into Halloween tbh, although I have given to little kids with their mum's. Like Rags it's just another American thing landed here over the years.
Whatever happened to Penny for the Guy. I used to do this with my kids, no one does it now. Another tradition died sadly

I don't think the vast majority play tricks Rags, they just like to dress up and collect sweeties.

It's true that Mags....Halloween seems to be more popular than collecting for the guy.
We still have bonfires and fireworks round here, but since kids/grandkids grew up we don't bother going now....I never really liked fireworks tbh unless they are from an organised display.

I quite like the atmosphere in the streets, and the lit-up pumpkins. I'm watching Agatha Christie's Halloween Party as we speak.

I can't get to the display so I look out the window and can see the high ones. We used to do them ourselves but now if my grandkids are here it's just sparklers. I like them.

And that's because you had eaten all the chocolate....admit it.
I ended up eating loads of sticky fruit salad sweets and lollies myself.
It reminded me of being a kid and picking stuff off the penny tray in the local sweetshop.
