Today - Commemorating the 80th Anniversay of Cable Street
Jeremy Corbyn remembering his Mother's part in the Battle of Cable Street
Can't say as I have heard a word about it from the Tories.
Corbyn and Khan to join community in Cable Street commemoration
The Labour leader and mayor will come together with the Jewish community remembering the confrontation with Oswald Mosley’s fascists
A demonstrator is taken away under arrest by police officers after a mounted baton charge, in East London, on Oct. 4, 1936, to stop fighting between anti-fascists and Sir Oswald Mosley's blackshirts.
Jeremy Corbyn and Sadiq Khan will join members of the Jewish community in a march commemorating the anti-fascist battle of Cable Street 80 years ago.

If in doubt find a slogan on Google!
Was Corbyn there for recruitment or damage limitation? Hasn't he just shown the inquiry into anti semitism to be a farce with his promotion of Ms Chakrabahti?

Yea, all those Jewish members who oppose the actions of the Israeli Government and the Settler Party
There must be a large number of anti-Semitic Jews of note, then.
It’s also quite possible to accept Israel as the home of Jewish people, but still oppose many of its expansionist policies at the expense of the Palestinians. Get over it.
Free Speech on Israel is a network of labour, green and trade union activists in the UK, mainly Jewish, who came together in April 2016 to counter attempts by pro-Israel right wingers to brand the campaign for justice for Palestinians as antisemitic. Their attacks form part of two highly orchestrated campaigns: one, to undermine the Labour Party led by Jeremy Corbyn, the first potential British Prime Minister to have a consistent record of supporting Palestinian rights; the other, to suppress the pro-Palestinian voices of Jews, Muslims, Christians, and others of many faiths and none, campaigning for freedom, justice and equality for all.
We are fully committed to combating all forms of racism and to defending those who are subjected to it – Jews, Muslims, migrants and members of any ethnic or religious minority, in the UK and elsewhere.
We assert the right to campaign in solidarity with all oppressed people, including Palestinians. Solidarity with Palestine is consistent with the finest traditions of the labour movement, in the same spirit as its support for the American civil rights movement, for the anti-Apartheid struggle in South Africa and for the movement opposing Western governments’ disastrous wars in the Middle East.
We reject the notion that questioning the Zionist ideology of the Israeli state and its supporters entails anti-Jewish prejudice. Not all Jews are Zionists. Not all Zionists are Jews. Leading Palestinian activists have been forthright in their condemnation of antisemitism in any guise.
Language or behaviour is antisemitic if:
- it inflicts or incites violence against Jews because they are Jews
- it expresses hatred of Jews because they are Jews
- it stereotypes Jews on the basis of alleged negative personal characteristics such as being mean, sly and avaricious
- it links Jews to conspiracy theories about world domination of media, financial or governmental institutions
- it accuses all Jews of embracing a single ideology, ie; Zionism
- it implicates all Jews in the actions of the Israeli state
- it suggests Jews were responsible for, or fabricated, the Holocaust.
Branding legitimate pro-Palestinian utterance or actions as antisemitic undermines democratic debate in a manner reminiscent of the McCarthy era in the United States.
We stand for free speech on Israel and Palestine and against the silencing of pro-Palestinian voices.

Corbyn was there because he has always promoted it, and his mother and father took part in it and he has a fantastic relationship with the Jewish community. You shouldn't be so ignorant as to believe what you read in the press.

No sassy It is that my observation is that its the left that ALWAYS (well...over 90% of the time) START the unpleasantness, name calling and shit stirring...It is the LEFT that are incapable of reasoned debate
your posts and HA' s above prove that very point since non of your targets you single out have even posted yet on this thread...and yet ...off you go goading from the offset...
YOU (and your ilk....) are the source of most of the contention here...you do realise that dont you...
Is it a typical lefty trait...an utter lack of civility and manners....
no wonder the left side of things appeals to our feral chave population living in the concrete jungles.....Its good to be pig ignorant...innit

Do get it right, anti Israeli Government, anti fundamental Settler Party, pro Jewish peace groups, with whom I have been friends for many, many years. The fact you can't tell the difference shows ignorance of the situations. There are hundreds of thousands of Jews who are anti Zionist and anti the colonisation of Palestine. You should educate youself, but then again, you do like to re-inforce your islamaphobia.

What a load of hasbara rubbish. Israeli's kill, maim and imprison Palestinian children every single day, but you ignore that as does the press. I bet you didn't even know that Israel has been bombing Gaza frequently lately. One of their own pilots died when he crashed his plane coming back from bombing Gazan kids.

nicko wrote:Sassy what do you say about Palestine terrorists being paid £2.000 for every Israeli Soldier they kill, bye the way it's OUR money we give them in so-called aid, witch the leaders of Hamas use to buy their Yachts and big houses?
You will deny ,as you deny anything that puts Hamas in a bad light
Haven't earned much then have they Nicko:
Breakdown of Deaths
Israelis | Palestinians | |
Children Killed (More on the impact on children.) | 129 Remember These Children | 1,523 Remember These Children |
Civilians* Killed | 731 B'Tselem | 3,535 - 4,226 B'Tselem |
People killed in the course of a targeted killing | 1 | 408 or more B'Tselem |
People who were the object of a targeted killing | 1 | 238 B'Tselem |
People killed on own land | 596 (53.8%) B'Tselem | 6,756 (98.9%) B'Tselem |
People killed on others' land | 508 (46.2%) B'Tselem | 73 (1.1%) B'Tselem |
Of course, Tommy will do everything he can to deflect from Cable Street, he'd have been on the side of the Blackshirts if he had been born then.
By the way B'Tselem are a JEWISH peace group IN ISRAEL. They are the people I have been talking to for the best part of 40 years.

Really? Perhaps you would like to show me the reports of the IDF being targetted. You won't be able to.
On the other hand, I could fill the forum with reports of the IDF killing kids, shooting farmers and fishermen, kidnapping children and abusing them, kidnapping peace workers and the latest, attaching a ship in international waters and kidnapping the women on board.

Whatever proof I show you will not be believed, The latest idea is to run down Civilians and Soldiers with cars, and to go up to Soldiers and at the last minute try to stab them. But you will say that's not true wont you.

Yes Nicko, you are quite right, you are quite blind and refuse to see.
Ronnie Barkan - Jewish Israeli activist
The bravest Israeli Jews are part of his group, I salute them.
They have the same principles and the same bravery as the people who stood up to Mosley in Cable Street

The Labour Party condems anti-semitism and islamophobia in all its forms - they've said it often enough haven't they? Didn't see many Tory or UKIP names in the line up of speakers at the event - did you?
