OH NO !!! This can't be true..
Poor li'l Deano's been telling anybody who would listen over this past week or two, just how spiffingly the Tories are travelling -- and how Labour, the LibDems and the Greens are all heading for certain extinction.

Irn is rather loose with the truth.
Wolfie what do you know about Labour, Liberals and the Greens?
Not a lot by the sound of it!!

the problem with interpreting these council sets wins as a surge in any direction is that the usually constitute a few hundred votes with a couple of handful of votes either way constituting a double digit increase/fall.Irn Bru wrote:Looks like a LibDem revival as well after they got caned for jumping into bed with the Tories

good to see your understanding of local politics is as good as the rest of your knowledge.WhoseYourWolfie wrote:

not exactly good for labour?
a handful of votes is not going to win labour the election, and the way their conference is going it will be lucky to have as many mp's as the ld's in 2020
just to reiterate
ICM General Election poll:
CON 41% (nc)
LAB 26% (-2)
UKIP 14% (+1)
LD 8% (-1)

council elections mean nowt when general election intents are being discussed in any case
people will vote for councillors on a far different agenda to what they will vote for an MP...

Re: Dreadful set of local election results overnight sees CON lose 4 – their worst performance since TMay became leader
to give some perspective here are the actual results for
Teignmouth Central
Alison Margaret Liberal Democrats 491 51.1% (+28.3) up 120ish
HARVEY, Steven UKIP 111 11.6% (+11.6) up about 10ish
MAYLAM,Nicholas Ralph The Conservative Party 286 29.8% (-12.6)down around 30ish
TIPPER, Malcolm Labour Party 72 7.5% (-8.7) down about 6ish
the turnout in that ward was 25%
hardly the sign of a popular uprising
the 2 other wards in that local election also had turnouts of about 25%
one interesting point is malcom tipper lab stood in 2 wards, didn't know you can do that
