I look forward to spokesmen being rolled out to tell us all how the results were some sort of victory for corbyns policies because they held a seat or two.
Of course the results in locals cannot always be applied to general elections, they are often used to punish the party in power, but it would be a real optimist who said labour chances were looking good in that.

BBC political editor Laura Kuennsberg says that an opposition party hoping to be heading for Number 10 after 8 June "should be gobbling up seats" in local elections.
Instead, she says, Labour is falling back.
The other striking aspect of the results so far is what seems to be "a total collapse so far in the UKIP vote", Laura adds.
The Conservatives are hoping for a "straight switch" from UKIP to them and that last year's Brexit vote has "removed UKIP's reason for being".

ukip have lost their reason to exist once the referendum was won, only a complete betrayal of the brexit negotiations could revive their fortunes.Thorin wrote:BBC political editor Laura Kuennsberg says that an opposition party hoping to be heading for Number 10 after 8 June "should be gobbling up seats" in local elections.

that and the fact they really were a #OneManBrand with #FaragEGO meant when he finally quit they looked entirely lost.
Nuttel may or may not be a knob, I really don't know a lot about him, but he comes across as a knob and will probably never shake off the ridicule from his website fabrications.
Had they not been a single issue party it might have been good to have another option in the mix, but they will go the way of the SDP into obscurity.
credit where credits due, they did the referendum issue on the table, but the tories ran with it and are reaping the benefits. Once that happened it was obvious that they were lost

Would that be the same Laura K that I once predicted (and still do) would at some stage occupy the former chair of Alastair Campbell at Labour Party HQ?
