Erm no? Why did you assume he was a pickpocket and why wouldn't you let him pass? You're supposed to stand on the right if you're riding up and people who want to walk up, walk on the left.
So you should have let him pass.

I would have let him pass....this annoys OH though, so maybe it's a man thing. Razz
My pet hate with escalators....when someone gets off and stops still....risking life and limb of everyone else who is behind them.

My pet hate is dickheads that don't stand to the side, although here it is the left to stand and right to walk up. geek
