Re: Next PM?
Sorry Nicko, it ain't, it's a matter of public record that they were not allowed to use the money to build new houses, and any new houses they did build automatically were allowed to be bought by the tenants after they had lived in them for 3 years, so public housing stock went through the floor with no reason to build anymore because of the monetary loss involved.
Now, back to Andrea Leadsome:
She wants to stop maternity pay
She wants to stop the minimum wage
Her financial affairs are in doubt and it's strongly suspected that she uses offshore accounts
She supports fox hunting
She voted to cut £30 from the disabled a week
and now
Andrea Leadsom: I didn't like gay marriage law because it hurts Christians, admits Tory contender to be PM

Leadsom is a dead duck. Too far right for most Tories apart from those bordering to UKIP territory.
May (God she is fugly) , who I dislike and disagree with many of her policies is the safest bet, and she appears straight up and down. What you see is what you get. No nasty surprises hidden in her closet.

At a conference organised by think tank the Centre for Labour and Social Studies, Mr Copley spoke about his role as Labour’s housing spokesman on the London Assembly.
He said: “As a Labour politician one of the things that really galls me is that there’s this statistic that more council homes were built in the last year of Thatcher’s government than were built in the 13 years of Labour government, and that’s something I think as a Labour Party we need to apologise for.” Official figures show only 6,330 council houses were completed from 1998 to 2010, compared with 17,710 in 1990 alone, which was Baroness Thatcher’s final year as prime minister. In one Labour year, 2004, the number fell to just 130 council homes completed.

Here's another example...
"The European Union value added tax (or EU VAT) is a value added tax on goods and services within the European Union (EU). The EU's institutions do not collect the tax, but EU member states are each required to adopt a value added tax that complies with the EU VAT code."

A value-added tax is not the same as taking over and monopolizing state's taxing mechanisms, which is what you would need. Don't change the subject...it's no better than an inarticulate c&p job.

At least you spelt it correctly Tom. That is the most valuable contribution you have made this week. You need to learn to add other words though. They then become sentences.

Aha... You are finally admitting it. It was a 'slippery slope' argument after all.
You lose credibility when you try to play 'hide-the-ball' with us. The 'slippery slope' argument is about a lot of 'couldovs', 'wouldovs', and suppositions. It says much more about the speaker than it says about the subject.
Such arguments are built on paranoia. We already know you are paranoid, tommy. You didn't need to declare it for us.

May so far is way ahead in popularity, but she campaigned to stay in the EU....Leadsom campaigned brilliantly to 'leave', but her past seems a bit dodgy....and the government has to now plan our future out of the EU.

I wonder how many MPs have 'buy to let' financial interests and are also presiding over mass immigration that is driving up house prices (in what can only be described as a huge bubble)... and driving up rent profits...?
Also...
In a speech in the House of Commons in 2012, Leadsom said that companies employing three employers or fewer should see any regulation scrapped.
“I envisage there being absolutely no regulation whatsoever—no minimum wage, no maternity or paternity rights, no unfair dismissal rights, no pension rights—for the smallest companies that are trying to get off the ground, in order to give them a chance,” she said, adding that if the number of employees increased then requirements would be reinstated.

She isn't making herself very popular is she?
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/andrea-leadsom-denies-using-status-082155860.html
Leadsom has two sons and a daughter, and the newspaper’s headline was: “Being a mother gives me edge on May — Leadsom”.
In the interview, Leadsom said May “possibly has nieces, nephews, lots of people. But I have children who are going to have children who will directly be a part of what happens next.”
A low blow, especially as fairly recently Theresa May has said she regretted not being able to have children.

Having children is one of the least endorsing of qualifications I can think of. Even a drivers license requires a test. Do we measure everyone's vagina to see which is the most qualified?
Leadsom should be embarrassed over that one.

She is shouting loudly and indignantly that she wants a retraction from the Times. She says the interviewer has misinterpreted her words....but I don't see how they can be misinterpreted.
She has said often in the last few weeks that "as a mother" etc etc....as if that makes her somehow more qualified to govern than her opponent.

ONE leading conservative candidate near here leads her resume off with "Wife and Mother"...
SHE received less than 34% of the primary vote in her electorate in last weekend's Oz Federal election;
Her Labor party opponent got well over 50%..
People would rather see their actual contributions as a political apparatchik/hopeful heading the list, then their academic qualifications (if any), and work history..
Placing one's parental status front and centre makes it seem like you're hiding something -- like maybe a lack of committment or other qualifications ?
Doubly so, when competing for Party leadership..
