READ the story, you dildo head !!!
They are exported Australian cattle, in a Vietnamese abbatoir..
The live exports have been stalled/postponed, while inspections and enquiries are underway.

Don,t give a toss where they come from, exported or not.
That is not a good way to kill cattle!
There are other ways to kill them quickly and without pain.
I have noticed that most Asian countries are not concerned about being cruel to animals.
For example look at the Chinese and their way of killing dogs.

Storm, the fact is he's right. Thank god that the Australian authorities are taking steps to prevent this, even if it's not in their jurisdiction.

Exporting countries do have a particular interest with how animals are treated in the target countries -- Australia had similar problems with a couple of Indonesian abbatoirs last year...
Personally, I would prefer that there was no live cattle and live sheep exports for slaughter, whatsoever.. And that they were processed here, under more controlled and closely regulated conditions.
HOWEVER, the 25 or 26 grazing companies exporting livestock from here to those Asian and Middle Eastern markets, do have a lot of influence within the Qld and NT branches of the conservative parties (currently in power down here at the Federal level..). That is the political reality, as sad as it is..

We have suspended export to some nations in the past,
it is a double edge sword by being in the market (and dominating it) means that we can fuck any business that refuses to improve their standards. which happened to some in Indonesia a couple of years ago
these arbitrators will probably be blacklisted. and hopefully inspire some 'cultural change' in the others.
the other issue is poverty, in Vietnam and many of these places it is the lack of refrigeration that prevents them buying per-slaughtered carcasses. that is how we export to the richer nations, frozen cargo.

they normally do even under the best circumstances. that is the brutal reality. nothing wants to die and they are not that dumb.
Pigs sometimes have 'terror' heart attacks while waiting on the ramps to the slaughter pen.
(they are then deemed unfit for human consumption since they weren't killed, under the provision to prevent using animals that have died of diseases)
