Oh all of you at some point but I don't always know.
I check their statistics and one member recently had given out about 10 reds but never posted.

Stormee....see where it says "quote" on the right hand side of the post (not yours...look on someone elses) just underneath that are the + and - little signs.

It's not agaisnt the rules to have more than one ID but if you are wreaking havoc with a second ID, and caught, then it could be a banning offence at admin's descretion, yes.

1.) why would any respectable member want to do that
2.) doesn't that just create more problems for the mods/admin to chase after the lesser thinking problem children with nothing but behavior issues and a need to create CHAOS
3.) never been on any community that allows such a thing EVER before --- really flummoxed that this is allowed

I'm also surprised that people are allowed to have more than one ID. That kind of thing really affects the legitimacy of discussions.

However, it's not necessarily sock accounts, it could be anyone joining - this forum is public and anyone can read it and decide who they like and don't like. Then there's always the possibility of the likes of Philagain joining over and over again.

It seems as though it hardly serves any purpose since the 'ADMIN/Mods' have discovered the membership using their dual identities to abuse the +/- reputation system --- so why have it?

4ever we aren't actually aware of users having multi ID's, we are just saying that if they happen then the poster will be outed eventually anyway!
There might be one or two and we have a suspicion who they are - if they are desperate enough to need another ID.....so be it! We aren't going to go into tracking everyone and IPs prive nothing at all anymore.

Not that complicated; you just LOCK THE IP OUT for a 2 - 3 days/ week / month and see what member tries to skirt around their original sign in!
Banning someone isn't efficient unless you PULL THEIR IP# as well - and there is the option for regional banning if they get cute and popping over to mom & dads to use their PC/laptop and coming in the back door. Wink
