*HAPPY MAY DAY* Do You Remember Doing MAY DAY BASKETS?
We made them out of old pieces of wall paper; rolled into a cone
shape - with a pipe cleaner handle and loads of fresh cut flowers
from what ever was blooming in the surrounding area. Creeping
up on the porch - hanging the basket on the screen door/door knob
where ever we could find to attach it - knocking on the door/ringing
the bell and running like 'HELL' so you didn't get seen/or caught.
That was the SURPRISE, for the elderly and homebound; getting a
'MAY DAY' basket from someone that CARED.
Did you do it - do you receive any 'May Day' baskets now?

I don't even remember May Day baskets, though they seem like a lovely idea.

We used to make our baskets as an 'ART' project in school and fill them during recess and there was always the 'MAY POLE' event that the parents came to watch and a sack lunch if weather permitted.
I've had friends rejuvenate this event at their wedding parties it gets everyone up and moving and such fun for all ages!

Maybe it was an American thing....I have never heard of Mayday baskets but it sounds like a lovely idea.
We used to do make a maypole...all the parents and kids in the streets where I lived. The girls loved it the lads hated it...oh happy days.

7:30pm and I just had a 'MAY BASKET' delivered on my door --- the little guy knocked and tried to run off my porch but tripped and fell flat --- guess he wasn't injured cause he jumped up and roared with laughter! Scared me near to death...I was seated right here at my computer and watched the entire event from my vantage point out the window! Lordy, I'll phone his grannie and follow up with a check up call to verify that he's all right!
