Re: Violin made on 3D printer
A copied plastic violin ???
Like comparing a mass produced (i.e. factory made..) cheap electric guitar or cheap plastic acoustic toy to a hand-crafted unwired wooden version...
Probably okay for those tone deaf people who can't hear the warmth of tone and timbre that only comes from wooden instruments..
Like claiming a $6,000 Chinese or Indian made car is as good as a new Mercedes, BMW or Lexus. After all, they all sit on four wheels, and moved by engines.
Or that the flesh from sardines is the same as salmon -- afterall, they're both fish, aren't they ?

Re: Violin made on 3D printer
I have to agree with wolfie here, even on my specialist speakers that sounded "canned" and lifeless, lacking the warmth and depth of tone you would get from a REAL instrument. Lots of "top" and no depth, caused I would think by a predominance of odd harmonics and a distinct LACK of even harmonics....
passable for the uneducated, but a total miss for me I'm afraid
Its like the difference between even the BEST transistor amp and a even mid range valve amp
the valve amp will win anytime in terms of tone and sound quality
because.......a transistor amp emphasises odd harmonics and a valve emphasises even harmonics....

ODD harmonics make the sound sharp and "spikey"
EVEN make the sound mellow and deep
