New UK News Section
6th January 2014
Excellent addition to the forum and very much needed.
I was rather shocked that there wasn't a UK section when I first arrived - I've never been on a forum without one before!
The forum is going from strength to strength - well done Admin and Mods

Thanks! Thing is, when we started up we didn't have, I think, any British members and certainly didn't anticipate the big influx we've had -- which I largely credit to Catman, who found us on his own and then started letting others know about us.
Now, with such a large number of U.K. members, I figured it would be best to tailor the forum a bit to its audience. I had also found the item about the Russian suicide bombers and thought it might have a better chance of getting seen and discussed if it wasn't among all the U.K. threads.

That won't go down well with some!
One door closes and then another one opens, this is a very good forum, and it's been a pleasure to let others know about it Ben. :D

Weird, because a quick look at the members list and playing with the join date drop down menu shows they all came when I joined.
It's nothing new Ben.
Keep up the good work though

Well, it was only a month ago -- I wanted to see how many of you were going to stick around for a while

Going off previous form, they'll stick around as long as I do, and quite frankly, I love the forum and all the people here.
Best debates in town to be had right here, right now!

Andy, they all came when SF went out of operation, first week of December. You had already long abandoned your membership with SF, so you could not have had an effect. And I came a week or so later because I was bedridden with the flu.
The influx here was the flood as a result of closing SF. Ben even describes it as the influx of Brits, of which you are only one. As proof, look at the bitter debate that was going on, and Ben has mentioned several times. That debate is what brought down SF, and it is what distinguished the group at in-coming. It was all the same continuity.
As I understand it, the link introduced was by Phil (Catman). I was clued in by Bee, via email.

I introduced the link to both Flap and SF....It just spread from there.

Now now kids, I know I grate on some of you - even Ben tried to move the glory off me - he can't stand me making these great threads bigging up the forum - he thinks he should be doing that himself.
But face it, i'm the biggest draw on forums, always have been (remember agreeing with me on SF when I said that Quim?), and still am.

Oh, hold on, Andy -- I was in no way trying to say that this isn't all about you, or that any thread I could create would hold a candle to one of yours! I'm so sorry if I came off that way, and please don't punish me.

Well, I don't know that it is you in particular, either, Sassy. But I do note that lil Andy keeps returning to our group, wherever we land. I have always assumed that he gets bored over on Flap, or wherever he hangs out. And it is true that we have lively, intellectually stimulating debates, as compared to the we said, he said, she said, they said nonsense you get on conservative noise-makers. Can't blame a guy for being attracted to a good product, eh?
