Fox News named 'most trusted' news network in America Empty Fox News named 'most trusted' news network in America

Fox News, the American network that hosts experts believing Birmingham is a “totally Muslim” city and analysts who believe the uncovering of the CIA’s use of torture was actually designed to tell Americans they’re “not awesome,” has been voted the most trusted news network in the US.

In a new and independent poll from Quinnipiac University, 29 per cent of Americans said Fox News offered the most trusted news coverage of the network and cable broadcasters, with CNN, NBC and CBS News close behind.

Unsurprisingly, the network is overwhelmingly supported by Republican voters, with 58 per cent of GOP backers staying that they trust Fox News the most of any networks, while only three per cent of Democrats could say the same.

The favourable opinion of Fox News comes in the face of widespread criticism of the network for its decision to show the brutal uncut Isis propaganda footage of pilot Muath al-Kasaesbeh being burned alive.

But the network is no stranger to controversy; not only has host Bill O’Reilly been accused of being a serial liar when it comes to his own reports, but the news network’s other presenters have much to answer for.

Presenter Kimberly Guilfoyle asked if a female fighter pilot from the UAE could be referred to as “boobs on the ground” in Syria during a report on air strikes being carried out against Isis, while presenter Greg Gutfeld has called Russell Brand “left wing Commie scum” while live on air.

Isn't that utterly terrifying?

Polls measure two things: numbers and intensity.  Numbers are a function of the count; intensity is a function of enthusiasm to be counted.

Very much the same thing happens in voting.  Everyone has their choice, but very few make the effort.  It's the vacuum left by apathy.

Right now Fox News has the corner on an enthusiastic group.  They represent not so much raw numbers, but a push to be counted.  That in itself is admirable, but votes are not supposed to measure admiration. That's how polls can be very good in measuring outcome, but very poor in measuring mood.

It's the numbers that scare the shit out of me.  All those really ignorant people who actually believe that crap. And polls only show numbers, people are not allowed to volunteer for them, it makes the null and void.

It's 58% of conservatives, but only 29% of all voters.  Do you see the self-selection working?  It is intensity, not actual numbers.  If anything, the 29% figure is testimony to how the numbers of conservatives have faded recently (recall the surprising numbers by which Obama won reelection).  If Republicans were co-equal with Democrats you would expect to see something more like 50-50%.

Moreover, it is not actually a testimony on the veracity of Fox News.  Rather, it's a testimony on the popularity of the programming.  Cable news is more something of entertainment than real news.  There needs to be some new categories, perhaps shows called politics for our side or hate them other guys...lol.  The confusion between the two permits this...suggesting it is actually mislabeling.  If it were sports, they would each put forth their own team as the best, even tho on paper one team is clearly superior.  The point is, people self-select themselves before considering the real question.  Polls are not what they say they are.

You are quite right. In fact, it shows you how conservatives are able to win off-year elections (like 2014) and cause all of this trouble. Because of their greater intensity, Republicans are able to take that 29% and leverage it into 50%+. Indeed, it's really the lack of intensity (not showing up to vote) among Democrats, that creates the problem.

The sad thing is how conservatives misread (intentionally or not) this information. They present it as though a majority of Americans trust Fox, rather than Fox having the single largest audience, an audience that puts a lot of trust in it.

Fox fans don't realize that the only reason Fox succeeds is because there's only one of it. If there were more channels like Fox, Fox wouldn't do as well.

Perhaps the poll is accurate. This may be because of more and more people waking up to all the lies presented to them from the other networks. A lot of people are waking up to the realism that Fox is not bought and paid for by the regime. They are not told what to say. They say it the way it is. Someone mentioned there is only one like them. That is true, because it takes balls to say it the way it is. Not much of that left in America. But there will always be some people you can talk to till you are blue in the face and they just don’t get it. After reading some of the replies on this subject, without a doubt there are a few of those people here.

I was just thinking how much higher the ratings would have been had it not been for the ignorant people who preach bipartisan is needed but cannot except anything other than thoughts that were ran down their throats. I am talking about those who cower at any thoughts that differ from theirs and are unable to except the difference. So instead of embracing the fact presented, they act out of fear, and bash anything that doesn't say what they want it to say. Bashing it makes them feel like they defeated the evil that threatens their illusionary world. They believe whole heartily what they do is just, and every one of their kind applauds and agrees. Like I said it takes balls to go against the grain. Something some of you lack.
Case in point, When Polisi said, but we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it.  Billions around the world laughed at this comment, and it did not take a rocket scientist to come to a very precise fact,  no one with any common sense would have applauded such an asinine statement. Yet not only was it applauded, there were those of you on this site who actually defended the statement.  Obama says his is ‘most transparent administration' ever
Hmm.. Anyone get to read the 300 page internet equality bill? I saw some of you applauding the passing of that bill also and no one read it. How does one applaud what they don't know? So when you talk about people being stupid, for voting for Fox, take a good look in the mirror.

So sad to see there are still people who live under a rock and haven’t realized after all these years of being ruled by both sides we are losing our rights and are being railroaded into a corner. Hard to believe there are still a bunch of one way, one thought, closed minded sheepeople.  A shrinking group consisting of followers who try to impress each other by portraying intelligence never taking notice to the reality, all you do is mimic what you are told and repeat the thoughts like they are your own.  No

Or those of us that understand Mathematics can easily see the statically anomaly where but the RW has one channel and the LW has 3 thus dividing the audience
NOTE it was not MOST Americans trust FOX news.

Seriously your post is garbage.. FOX cannot even show most of its US broadcast in Australia Because we have higher requirements for truth in media. They have to put up a mark in the corner to say sponsored segment which would literally be up the almost the entire time FOX news was on.

Most people on this site are not from the USA lets compare the FOX FACTS for their nations to the reality of their nation.
Lets ask the people of Birmingham, ask me an Aussie.. they are entirely full of shit Laughable to the people that live in the nations they are talking about for how make believe they are

Fox News is the only one that boldly lies.  The other networks frame, which I agree is a bit of a deceptive way of starting off the discussion.  For example, the current controversy about Hillary Clinton using her personal email account.  There is no story here; it was not illegal; it was not against regulation; it was not even prohibited by any rule…yet, the networks still open these stories as if there is something to discuss.  As Gertrude Stein once said: There is no there, there.

But Fox News simply lies.  Their reporters lie, even to each other…O’Reilly covered the Falklands War from the front…pssssaw.

You are confusing lying with ‘difference’.  Yes, when Fox News makes up facts, it is different.  But making a difference by altering the facts is a lot different than making a difference by having a different opinion.   The basic rule of logic is: (1) evidence first; (2) statement second; and (3) opinion only after you have the facts.  Fox News starts with opinion first, and moves backwards to invent the evidence.  That is pure creativity, and while creativity in fictitious manuscripts is valued, the presumption of news is that it begins with fact.

Hotwired wrote:Case in point, When Polisi said, but we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it.  Billions around the world laughed at this comment, and it did not take a rocket scientist to come to a very precise fact,  no one with any common sense would have applauded such an asinine statement. Have you ever heard of anything that you can know…even before it exists?  That is metaphysics.  That’s what it is like when you begin to discuss legislation that is not yet even written.

Let’s be honest.  The full text of Nancy Pelosi’ sentence was: “But we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”  You conveniently left out the key words of Ms. Pelosi: “what it is” and “away from the fog of the controversy.”  That's just dishonest.  She was talking about 'what it is'...and distinguishing it from 'the fog of controversy'.  Yet you go on to argue with something she was not addressing, and had specifically said so...the controversy.  That's called a 'red herring'.

Like Fox News, you are beginning with your opinion before you secure the facts.  Ms. Pelosi’s point was well founded…if the controversy is still on-going, once again, there is nothing factually there.

Hotwired wrote:Hmm.. Anyone get to read the 300 page internet equality bill? I saw some of you applauding the passing of that bill also and no one read it. How does one applaud what they don't know? So when you talk about people being stupid, for voting for Fox, take a good look in the mirror.

So…you read the entire bill?  If not, why bring it up?  You are on equal ground as those you criticize.

You seem to exhibit many of the qualities of conservatives, among them: given to slogans rather than thinking your own thoughts (“under a rock” “sheepeople”); elitism (criticism on the personal level, rather than commenting on ideas); and an inability to distinguish your own opinions from facts (see above).

Even a follower can think clearly.  You?  You have yet to catch up.
