Time it was curtailed and stopped..
LOOK AFTER OUR OWN FIRST.
Well, on this I'm in total agreement about; the USA sends billions out in foreign aid {humanitarian and military and just plain cash} and it bugs me NUTS that while we have so many agreements/signed grants and loans out --- we've had a greater than fair share be defaulted on and the agreement to 'STOP ATTACKING YOUR BORDER' neighbors go unheeded even with the millions we send over to other nations!
A.) it not cost affective IMO to expect a dictator to abide by any written agreement {trade or otherwise} and to just keep feeding the beast that is syphoning the humanitarian aid away from the starving and needy while they built their private residential palaces --- is insanity
B.) war lords will smile while accepting our USA dollars and just ignore the mandate that goes with it...so we are in fact arming the tyrants and allowing the rat bastards to hurt their own civilians with our DOLLARS
C.) for craps sake --- our economy was going down the tube early on in 2006; shut off the 'freebies to ALL other nations' and declare a moratorium on all foreign aid until we can get our nations budget back on solid ground

And this is just figures that represent what we gave away in 2013 ...

AGAINST that US aid that went to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt -- How much oil did the USA ship back home in return ?
WHEN measured as a % of a country's GDP, rather than in total $$$, you will find that countries like Japan, Germany and Britain are often greater donors proportionately in foreign aid..
THE USA stil has the world's largest national economy, still well ahead of China and India.

Meanwhile back in the states; we've all been told to 'tighten our belts, suck it up buttercup the recessions been rolling this way since 2001 and as our utilities keep going up, fuel to get to jobs hit all time highs of $4. a/gal, a living wage stagnated at $7.25 a/hr, grocery costs tripled for many essential items, zero cost of living wage increases, medical expenses tripled as well as pharmaceuticals, practically zero interest for anyone who could have a savings account and huge loses on our 401K retirement plans due to all of those Ponzi schemes allowed by GWB, budget cuts out the ying/yang for families struggling to survive with aid from their states via a food stamp/Medicaid/medicare and local food pantries with zero extras.WhoseYourWolfie wrote:AGAINST that US aid that went to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt -- How much oil did the USA ship back home in return ?

I don't live in China and I don't plan on living in India {even though we've sent many a phone calling/customer service job to their country} ---
I live in the USA and see where our government should have / could have tightened their own belts but chose instead to pass it down to all of the worker 'B's and our taxes to support their jobs.
And about that "supposedly" graft of crude oil from Iraq & Afghanistan...those leaders weren't as STUPID as Herr Cheney & little Georgie thought they were; the tribal leaders made dam sure that the 'control of that crude' stayed right within the countries that we'd invaded. But kept taking our pallets of cash that were shipped over and we {Pentagon/DOD} managed to misplace BILLIONS dollars in the process.
$6.6 billion
Stuart Bowen, special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction, an office created by Congress, said the missing $6.6 billion may be "the largest theft of funds in national history."Missing Iraq money may have been stolen, auditors ...

Can't tell you how much good that amount of money would have done for all of our wounded - PTSD - homeless - veterans still waiting on services and replacement body parts that they can't afford.
