While I feel such remorse and frustration that we all seem so ill prepared for those refugee's and the social & economic impact that they have upon those regions ... the safety and well being of 'ME' and my livelihood takes precedence over their needs & wants! Great news!!!
On Thursday, about 250 migrants and refugees broke out of a reception centre on the Greek island of Samos, reports said.
They marched through the streets of Vathy, the island's main town, demanding that they be allowed to continue their journey to the European mainland, and not be taken to Turkey. Eyewitnesses described how some migrants were carrying knives and threatening security forces.
Police and local authorities from the European border agency Frontex convinced most of the migrants to return to the reception camp, local radio reports said early Friday.
Not that desperate measures don't make social changes necessary 'NOW' instead of later --- our entire human history is rife with such upheavals/riots that have forced immediate change.
Just heart wrenching for the children caught in such circumstances.
BTW - I did notice the absences of data pertaining to the number of women/children/man in that article

Vast majority are illegal/economic immigrants and have no right to be anywhere near Greece! !!
The Syrians are coming from Turkey which is safe country so they should go back there too!!!
They only want to get into northern Europe because they know that they will be given nice houses and plenty of money every week!!! So they too are just economic migrants and piss taking scum!!!

The boat carrying 45 Pakistanis left Mytilene on Lesbos for the short journey to the Turkish port of Dikili.
Three demonstrators who dived into the harbour were fished out by coastguards.
Some 200 mainly Pakistanis were deported on Monday under an EU deal with Turkey, the main transit route for undocumented migrants.

The broke out because of the absolutely dreadful conditions in the camp:
Refugees in Greece warn of suicides over EU-Turkey deal
Afghans and Syrians on Chios say policy will lead to ‘terrible scenes’, as concerns grow over 13 deported ‘by mistake’
Syrians and Afghans threatened with deportation from the Greek islands of Lesbos and Chios have said they would rather take their own lives than be expelled from the EU under its migration deal with Turkey.
On Monday, 202 migrants were forcibly returned from Lesbos and Chios to the Turkish coast under the landmark deal aimed at halting “irregular” migration to Europe.
But Souaob Nouri from Kabul, who is held in the high-security camp in Chios, said: “If they deport us, we will kill ourselves. We will not go back.”
A man next to him warned of “terrible scenes” if Greek authorities insisted on pursuing policies that have already caused alarm among human rights groups.
“We are not terrorists,” said the man, who gave his name as Akimi. “We are refugees. The conditions here are very bad. There is no water. They hit pregnant women. Why do they treat us like this? All we want is asylum.”
Similar threats of self harm were echoed on Lesbos this week. In a letter passed to the Guardian by aid volunteers on the island, inmates held in the Moria detention centre wrote that they would rather “accept death” than be deported to Turkey. “We will accept death but not return back,” the letter said, adding: “We will all commit suicide if they deport us.”
The expulsions have been fraught with controversy. Thirteen of the 66 deportees who were sent back across the Aegean Sea from Chios under armed guard are believed to have “expressed intent” to apply for asylum – enough, say UN officials, to have kept them in Greece until their requests were examined.
“Between 20 March when the deal came into effect and 1 April when it was voted into legislation [by Greek MPs] we have seen limits in the ability of authorities to process claims,” said Katerina Kitidi with the UN refugee agency on Chios, an east Aegean island south of Lesbos. “There has been a definite lack of clarity.”
The uncertainty has quickly fuelled tensions on the island. More than 800 inmates broke out of the vastly overcrowded detention facility last week in violent scenes that ultimately saw men, women and children march into Chios town.
Ever since, they have occupied the concrete quayside that doubles as the island’s docking area for ferries offering routes to the mainland. The disruption of services – although they were partially reinstated on Wednesday – has tested locals’ forbearance.
Mindful of their own past as refugees from the heartlands of Anatolia around the time of the 1919-22 Greco-Turkish war, locals have been welcoming émigrés with open arms. But the sympathy that once greeted the influx – some 125,000 Europe-bound migrants and refugees landed on the island’s beaches last year – has now begun to wane. Against a backdrop of continuing boat arrivals from Turkey it appears set to evaporate further.
In the town hall, Chios’s mayor, Manolis Vournous, expressed nervousness that the island had reached an explosive point. Implementation of the EU-Turkey deal, without the proper infrastructure and personnel, was tantamount to turning “a chair into a table”, he said. Locals, stung by six years of biting austerity, were running out of patience.
“That’s the most scary thing,” said Vournous, an architect by profession. “People see their lives being stopped. For so long they have been positive and supportive but now I am afraid it will change. We have to persuade them [the refugees] to leave the port and we have to avoid locals losing patience.”
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/apr/07/refugees-in-greece-warn-of-suicides-over-eu-turkey-deal
Do they look like they are carrying knives etc? They are too busy carrying their children and their sparse belongs. And the reason why Greece is losing patience is that that Europe is contraviening international law.

Odd, how you manage to think {despite the numerous articles and photos} that those people actually have land/homes and lively-hoods to return too; what/why would any rational thinking human leave such paradise to risk their very life to come to some foreign country to wait for this > > >
Why how absolutely absurd of those ingrates to leave the horror of
all that death and destruction; fleeing everything that they know and

end up living in squalor for a year or more!

Actually I deliberately chose one that the poor little mites looked like they are asleep. The site dedicated to what is happening in Syria has hundreds that would make you weep to think of it happening to a child, and that is what these people are trying to save their families from. The fact that anyone can even contemplate saying 'fuck 'em' about them makes we want to puke.

5 Ways the EU and Turkey Have Just Completely Betrayed Refugees
Greece began shipping migrants from the island of Lesbos to Turkey on Monday under a controversial European Union deal aimed at stopping the flow of migrants and refugees into Europe.
A Syrian refugee holds onto his daughter as he waits to cross into Turkey at Akcakale border gate in Sanliurfa province, Turkey, June 15, 2015.
Under the EU-Turkey deal, Ankara will take back all migrants and refugees, including Syrians who enter Greece illegally, in return for the EU taking in thousands of Syrian refugees directly from Turkey and rewarding it with more money, early visa-free travel and progress in its EU membership negotiations.
But the deal has rightly been labelled a travesty by human rights groups. Here's why:
1. Turkey Not a 'Safe Third Country'
A Syrian refugee tries to keep his children warm. | Photo: Reuters
In order for the deal to go into effect, the European Union and Greece approved a law labeling Turkey a “safe third country” for refugees. But reports ahead of the deal suggest authorities in the country are forcing those fleeing the conflict back into Syria, a violation of international human rights law.
Turkish troops have also reportedly shot and killed at least 16 Syrian refugees who attempted to cross the border, including women and children, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said late March.
It is also worth noting that those fleeing to Europe are not only Syrians but also include people from other countries suffering war and conflict such as Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia.
But Turkish law forbids Iraqis and Afghans from obtaining refugee status, which means if citizens of those countries are sent to Turkey they could be deported to their home countries, where they are likely to face persecution and possibly even death.
2. The Deal Violates Human Rights

The U.N. refugee agency, UNHCR, recently pointed out that the EU-Turkey deal violates international agreements signed by the EU, which state that asylum seekers must have their cases assessed as individuals.
"The collective expulsion of foreigners is prohibited under the European Convention of Human Rights," Vincent Cochetel, Europe’s UNHCR regional director, said in Geneva last week.
"An agreement that would be tantamount to a blanket return of any foreigners to a third country, is not consistent with European law, is not consistent with international law."
A report late March also points out that since the EU-Turkey deal went into effect on March 20, more than 6,000 refugees have arrived in Greece through Turkey, with many forced to pay for their own travel expenses to detention centers, where they are being kept as prisoners and fed through fences as volunteers who deliver food are refused entry into the facilities.
3. More Danger Awaits Refugees
A Syrian refugee holding a baby in a lifetube swims toward the shore of Lesbos | Photo: Reuters
After the finalization of the deal between the EU and Turkey, several aid organizations warned that it is likely to push refugees into opting for riskier and more dangerous routes to make their way into Europe.
“Those excluded from the deal will continue to try different, more dangerous routes if the border between Turkey and Greece is shut to them,” Marta Foresti, of the Overseas Development Institute, said Wednesday, according to The Independent.
The most likely alternative for those fleeing war and conflict is the journey by boat across the Mediterranean. On March 31, a smuggler in Turkey posted an advertisement on Facebook offering trips between Turkey or Greece and on the same day, the United Nations reported that at least 22 refugees of Syrian and Somali descent arrived on Italian shores.
Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has warned of close to 500,000 migrants and refugees heading to conflict-torn Libya in the hope of making the perilous journey across the Mediterranean, which has claimed the lives of thousands of people in recent years.
4. More Refugees Will Be Returned to Turkey than Those Settled in Europe
A young boy points at a photograph of Aylan Kurdi | Photo: Reuters
As part of the deal, the EU says it will accept one refugee for every one returned to Turkey from Greece. However, the number of possible accepted refugees by the EU is capped at 72,000, which is a very low number compared to the arrivals into Europe and therefore constitutes a shortsighted solution at best.
“The 72,000 person cap on those who can be resettled in the EU is approximately the same number of people arriving in Greece each month, and pales in comparison to the nearly 5 million who are being hosted by Syria’s neighbors,” Refugees International said in a statement regarding the EU-Turkey deal last month.
“Putting any cap on resettlement effectively ignores the real challenge of finding longer-term solutions to the unstoppable flow of refugees out of Syria.”
5. EU's $4 Billion to Turkey Likely Be Used to Beef Up Detention and Enforce Border Controls
A lifeguard carries a baby off the Greek coast of Lesbos | Photo: Reuters
It is unclear how the funds allocated to the Turkish government by the EU will be used or how much oversight the European authorities have over them.
But human rights groups expect Turkey to use the money to introduce tighter border controls and build detention centers in order to restrict the movement of refugees within the country.
It is also unclear what will happen when the money runs out, further emphasizing the short-sightedness of a plan European officials have described as the worst refugee “crisis” since World War II.

This is supposed to be a discussion site. If all we discuss are boring, inconsequential things...well, there won't be much to discuss.
Photographs are a part of the chain of communication. If one of them makes an outstanding or startling statement, that's in keeping with what we're all about.

So what, Raggs. Shit happens.
This is supposed to be a discussion site. If all we discuss are boring, inconsequential things...well, there won't be much to discuss.
Photographs are a part of the chain of communication. If one of them makes an outstanding or startling statement, that's in keeping with what we're all about.
WTF? How hard is it to post a link to a photo rather than embed a photo? How hard is it to put a warning? It's just common courtesy. It's all very well for the person posting a photo - they've seen it already.

Re: Greece has started shipping back the dodge pots at last!!!
Are those pictures of the West coast of Turkey where they handed over cash for a boat ride rather than just using for staying there and living...?
Are those pictures of the rest of Turkey where they have been living quite alright for the last couple years or so...?

The whole point of a photo is to make an impact and show people exactly what is happening. Posting a link doesn't do that. Don't you people read the news, find out what is going on, become enranged that so many children are suffering, want to do something about it, want people to know about it, want to slap the face of some mutant bastard that says 'fuck 'em'? Or does it all just pass you by, and you hope somehow it will never have an impact on your life and you can forget about them?

I've also put warnings if I post a link to a pic or video which I think might upset someone if they're not expecting it. It's just common sense.

Would you like to explain how 4ever was stirring the pot? Or are we not allowed to comment on things that annoy us anymore?

I'm going to reply to this. How do you know that someone doesn't have a dodgy heart, or have a sensitive nature, or a phobia about blood or dead bodies? I don't see that posting a link with a warning hurts - most people will click on it anyway, it just gives them a bit of a warning of what to expect.

Re: Greece has started shipping back the dodge pots at last!!!
You are joking? Please say you are joking? After the last few days on here, dodgy heart, sensitive nature, saying 'fuck 'em' about people that are suffering probably more than any other people on earth at the moment!!! Yea right!
PS, I specifically chose one without blood.

I'm not joking at all. What's the matter with you? As I said before (the post was removed), eddie posted a pic of Farook Syed in the road with blood everywhere, and I was a bit ... whoa! If people aren't prepared to see a graphic scene, it's a bit of a shock. Even on the news they warn people to look away if they put something graphic on.
I don't tend to click on threads about animal abuse because I don't want to read about it, and I don't want to see pics either. I know what goes on - I don't need to see it all the time.

So affective.
I'm to suppose or guess all of my prior participation (back there where muffer &/stormed have never been) were just wasted bandwidth.
