Regular Londoners Have Started A Movement To Take Back The City
We all have dreams that we sculpt within our minds, but is society allowing us to achieve what we desire? For many in London, it isn’t, and so they’re doing it for themselves.
Take Back The City are appealing to those who traditionally ‘don’t do politics’. As Jacob, one of the founding members, puts it, “we’re doing it in reverse”. Instead of pitching a manifesto to the voter, they are asking regular Londoners how they want to be represented.
Think about how Donald Trump does politics. Got it? OK forget that, because it’s nothing like that. It’s like the complete opposite.
The aim is to give ordinary people a voice again. Take Back The City hold weekly outreach sessions within different communities, the outcome of which is a list of demands orchestrated by the people.
The prominent issues seem to be affordable rent and housing, a reasonable living wage and a policing system that they feel they can have more faith in.

Iniatives lkie this are always a good thing in trying to give people a voice in how their city is run.
We'll see how this one goes.
