Isn't it time this brutal 'sport' was banned?
First topic message reminder :
Yet another boxer seriously ill in an induced coma in hospital.
We frown on dog/cock/any other animal fighting, but encourage one human being to beat another human being to a pulp....all in the name of sport.

Your stance is hypocritical as again the view is being made on injuries in boxing ignoring the risks in many other sports
So clearly the reason on injuries is not the real motive is it?
As clearly they would be against any sport that caused or could cause head injuries
Like I say the view is based on the associated violent nature of the sport as to why people generally oppose
Right now that the children have been dealt with.

DARTS was introduced back in Ye Olden Dayes, so that Archers could "keep their 'eye' in.." and stay in practice, during those long, cold, miserable and sleety Northern winters...
I SAY that they should ban Pub Darts, because of the risk that it may encourage violent tendencies among it's more vulnerable participants !

Don't forget forums. Whilst they may not be physically dangerous they certainly scramble the brains of some....as some of the contributions on this this thread alone proves.

Re: Isn't it time this brutal 'sport' was banned?
That was a brutal fight between Eubank jnr and Nick Blackwell but the ref called the deciasion to continue as he would as long as resistance is coming back from the boxer. He would only stop it if a boxer had sustained an injury that prevents himself from defending himself and that is what happened. It's up to the corner to look after their boxer and in this case Nick Blackwell was too brave for his own good and his corner should have kept him on his stool or thrown the towel in because in the last few rounds their was little prospect that he could actually put Eubank on the floor to be counted out.
A ban would have to be international or boxers would just move elsewhere. Better to keep the sport transparent where it is propery regulated because the alternative is that it would just go underground into back street booths where there is little regulation and no proper medical facilities other that a doctor who has taken a back hander but with no medical equipment to support injured boxers.
I don't think a ban is good thing.
