Re: Liz and Brexit
Hi Stormee. The Sun paper had a headline saying the Queen wants Brexit. But the palace are denying it. But there must be some truth in it.
I suspect the Royal family are concerned over whether they'll lose some status if we remain in the EU, and it gains even more laws and powers over us.
Well done Queenie.

Buckingham Palace launches official complaint over Sun front page claiming Queen supports Brexit
The Sun story claimed the Queen had voiced Eurosceptic views at a 2011 lunch
Buckingham Palace has complained to the Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) about a report in the Sun newspaper which claimed that the Queen had voiced strong Eurosceptic views.
The front page story was based on an anonymous source's report of a lunch with Nick Clegg during his time as Deputy Prime Minister.
It claimed the monarch had vented her anger with Brussels at Mr Clegg, who is pro-EU, during their meeting at Windsor Castle in 2011.
“We can confirm that we have this morning written to the chairman of the Independent Press Standards Organisation to register a complaint about the front page story in today's Sun newspaper,” a spokesperson at Buckingham Palace said.
“The complaint relates to Clause One of the Editors' Code of Practice.”
Clause one governs accuracy, saying the press must “take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information” and correct it with due prominence if found.

Re: Liz and Brexit
I quite agree LF.
Why shouldn't she voice her views and opinions? She is the Queen after all. It's her counmtry, her heritage, her people, so speak up for them ma-am without fear of criticism.

you sound like you want to go back to bowing to the gentry
her country fought against her heritage and her people and somewhat won, part of the treaty to prevent her ancestors head being justly removed was that they shall not interfere and give their opinion on such matters.

Agreed veya.
I love the monarchy. I love the history, the tradition, the ceremony and all that.
However, my love is conditional on their non-interference in politics. If royals suddenly started openly expressing stances on big political issues then that is interfering, to whatever degree. If the monarchy expresses views one way or the other it demonstrates partiality and as it comes from an unelected but otherwise popular Head of State, it undermines democracy.
Views in private are fine, but considering the privilege afforded the royals I don't think it is asking much to keep political views to themselves.
