One Of Britain's Scroungers
First topic message reminder :
26th December 2013
A single mother-of-two who lives on benefits used payouts from eight payday loan companies so her children could have a special Christmas.
Unemployed Katie McGill borrowed £1,690 from the controversial firms and will have start paying back £3,000 from January 2.
The 28-year-old from Devizes, Wiltshire, took out the loans of between £80 and £380 to buy 'hundreds' of presents for her children, but now fears she will not be able to provide for them when she tries to cover the repayments.
She bought a bike, a TV and a DVD player for both Mya-Renee, three, and Calvin, eight, and took them for a meal.
The jobless mother said: 'There were hundreds of presents under the tree. Their gran passed away this year so it was nice to be able to treat them.
'They got loads of computer games for their Xbox, they got a new TV and DVD player each, new bikes and loads more.'
She will try and make the repayments with the £70 a week she has leftover after she has covered other bills.
But she is worried she will be unable to buy basic necessities for her children and has blamed Wonga for getting her into 'one big, messy, circle'.
'When I start paying back the loans I won't be able to pay the bills or buy food and drink and basic necessities.
'Then I'll start taking out more loans and it will just be one big, messy, circle.'
A spokesman for Wonga said it is not possible to take out multiple Wonga loans at once - you have to pay off a Wonga loan in full before being eligible to take out another.

But all you talk about are these 11 million or so people who have debts Didge, that is not the sole reason why this country is in such a mess, try looking at the government for a lot of the blame, plunging poor people further into poverty with theses OTT austerity measures.
But it's the whole system that's wrong. It needs a semi-global people's revolt. Take over the banks and wipe out all debt. Look to the Iceland model.
I don;t discount the Government not helping matters or did I say all those in debt would be down to solely themselves, that is not what I asked you now is it Loki, you are avoiding my point on knowing people where many live beyond their means.
I would be interested to know your honest opinion on the matter

^^^ This American surfer gets food stamps and doesn't work. The right-wing media had a field-day with him; you'd think all food stamp recipients were:
... living the self-described “rat life” in California.
The 29-year-old signed up for SNAP and receives $200 dollars a month in taxpayer money for food. He put it simply, “I don’t got a paycheck coming in, so I qualify.”
All he has to do is provide his birth certificate and Social Security card and fill out a form once a year.
In 1996, if you were an able adult with no family, you would only qualify for food stamps for three months every three years. President Obama wiped away those restrictions when he signed the 2009 stimulus bill. In 2010, the president used his regulatory powers to extend the suspension of the welfare-to-work requirements.
Greenslate is trained to be a recording engineer, but he told Roberts he has no paycheck because holding down a steady job isn’t for him.
So, it was off to the gourmet section of the grocery store, as Greenslate purchased sushi and lobster with his EBT card. “All paid for by our wonderful tax dollars,” he said, telling Roberts that’s what he typically buys.
“This is the way I want to live and I don’t really see anything changing,” Greenslate said. “It’s free food; it’s awesome.”

So if all welfare recipients are Jason Greenslate, I submit that all conservatives are exactly like New Jersey conservative small-town mayor Chris Meyers, pictured here:
Yes! This single example proves that every conservative in the world:
... is here to fill the weekly news slot reserved for the outing of one or another garden variety self-loathing, escort-loving closeted Republican politician with a weak claim that he is totally clueless as to how a California rentboy got all those photos of Myers and his magical Superman-sized briefs asleep in a hotel bed (along with pictures of his IDs and his cell phone number). Or, uh, Photoshop maybe? Probably it was the terrorists with their Photoshop.

Hardly Ben, there are very genuine people out there and like here people make mistakes in making unfounded accusations, that does not excuse though the ones that do take advantage and will admit they are a minority of those claiming, but to base your view on one story is as bad as someone basing the reverse with ones who take the piss, just the same argument in reverses

So murder her because she wanted to provide her kids a great Christmas? Do all conservatives believe that those who don't have good money management skills should be summarily executed?

This is an extreme case Ben although she doesn't deserve to die
This is beyond poor money management skills however, this is reckless spending unnecessarily. A three year old does not need a TV and DVD player, a three year old needs time and love. These are young children, the excessive spending is more about the Mum than her kids unfortunately
