Trivia quiz
Thought it might be fun to pose and answer questions. Here's my offering:
What do the circular saw, Kevlar, pyrotechnic flares, windshield wipers and the COBOL computer language have in common?

Re: Trivia quiz
Well, to be honest I couldn't figure this out on my own. I had to Google it.

Re: Trivia quiz
Good show nonetheless! All were invented by women.
This one could be a stumper:
What can you see with your naked eye that everyone else would need a microscope to see?

Re: Trivia quiz
You're right, I'm stumped. I can see my floaters and nobody else could see them without an optical instrument.

Re: Trivia quiz
Yep, eye floaters are microscopic and the only way to see them unaided is that they're in your eyes :-)

Re: Trivia quiz
Yeah, Wikipedia has a whole article on them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floater
I remember when I was 4 or 5, I first starting noticing them and ended up getting my parents to take me to the eye doctor

Re: Trivia quiz
I remember telling my parents that I could see atoms in my eyes. They said atoms were too small, and it isn't possible, so I said I can see the individual cells in my eyes. They didn't believe me, but I was sure I had some sort of special seeing ability. Now I finally know what it is/was.

Re: Trivia quiz
1. Where do flies go in the winter? (in cold locations)
2. What were the names of these two popular films: the remake from 1991 of the original film from 1950, with the same title, which starred Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor as father and daughter. What's the title?
3. How did we get the $ symbol?

Re: Trivia quiz
#1 cocoons, sort of
the flies die but the maggots form coccons as part of the metamorphosis life cycle. in winter those in cocoon stage simply stay in cocoon stage until it get warm enough again. If you have pet Lizards or Frogs you can buy fly cocoons that you keep in the fridge/freezer and just drop a few in the tank, after a little while the flies pop out of their coccons (and normally get eaten before they get much chance to fly about)

Re: Trivia quiz
Interesting! You still see the double line used occasionally.
What was the first home computer to have the RAM and processing power needed to compute a manned mission to the moon?

Re: Trivia quiz
I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that the Commodore 64, with roughly a megahertz processor and 64K RAM (of course) could've done a mission to the moon.
Re: Trivia quiz
Aw hell, the Com 64 could have done the Apollo 11 mission with a bunch of RAM tied behind its processor:
