Honestly lost count.
I'd love to move to Almunicar, Costa Tropical, absolutely wonderful town with a short walk to the beach, the fresh food market is fantastic and it's a proper working Spanish town, not just a holiday resort.

Not counting childhood (when we moved around a lot) I've moved four times, or roughly every five years or so. Never very far, though, and I love where I live.
Re: How Many Times Have You Moved House? Any Regrets?
with any luck I will only move once or twice more...
if its twice it will involve a move to somewher REALLY rural
if its only once ...it will be from here to the graveyard.....

Come on, you're really trying to tell me you're having a blast as a misanthrope?

did you REALLY expect any other answer from me??
I "hope for the best, but expect the worst"
that way...
I'm never caught out
no one gets to "stab me in the back"
I am rarely if ever dissapointed by people
and I am never surprised...by anything "human" or human actions
such a philosophy also allows me to be brutally honest.....

Re: How Many Times Have You Moved House? Any Regrets?
3 times since we first had a home of our own.
Once from the west side of Edinburgh to a larger house in the west side of Edinburgh but nearer the centre of the city.
Then from Edinburgh to Loanhead which is just outside the Edinburgh boundary. A mining village.
Then from Loanhead to where I am now which is only about a mile from where I was brought up as a kid. It's a little mining area and back amongst my ain folk.
I've been all over this planet and seen a lot and I've no desire to live anywhere else other than here

With all due respect to cousin Doogie, it's too cold in Edinburgh (though I once almost lived just off of Charlotte Square).

Well houses round about Charlotte Square can be a bit pricey right enough Quill and the price rocketed up when devolution came along and Scotland had it's own government. You'd need a lot of cash to afford one around there that's for sure.

All houses seem overpriced to me.
They're just square objects made from bloody bricks.

Basically a big camper that you tow with a truck as opposed to a RV where are in the machine driving.
My current favorite is

Ooooh that's nice Cass! My grandparents had the one you sat in and drove (RV?) and my favourite times were going up and down the country for weekends in it and driving through France.
Drop me a line when it's bought girl and you can swing by and pick me up

Yeah I had loads of holidays with my grandparents 5th wheel and then we had our camper when we were in England and loved going to France, Holland and Germany.
We are looking at getting a small one here to start with and doing weekends away.
sure thing old bean...but you will have to sleep in the living room on the pull out sofa and maybe do a little light cooking and cleaning? Or better yet, make Mr. Cass and Mr. Eds do it whilst we sit outside under the awning quaffing wine. MUCH better idea.

It's the same here. Cass just didn't explain that in strictly mechanical terms. When it comes to trailers, it's either a 'pull-along' or a '5th-wheel'. What else can it be?
You see the first one she pictured has the 5th-wheel projecting downward from the front compartment.

IMAGINE a smaller version mounted on the back of a Ford F250, Dodge Ram or Chev C30 pickup truck style utility...
FOR towing a caravan (or other type of trailer..) that's too big to tow behind a regular car.

Re: How Many Times Have You Moved House? Any Regrets?
From the house I was born and brought up in to the house we have now I have moved just 5 times.
That's not counting the few times I worked away in the summer when I was younger though.

We will have to get an F350/450 to pull the one I want. Since we are going to be living in it full time I have to have room or I will end up a widow

Since last Thursday we have pounded the streets, estate agents, driven, trawled the internet in search of a 2 bed bungalow my wife likes.
We have been pipped at the post 3 times now, bloody annoying.
There are some fantastic bungalows about Warwick & Stratford Upon Avon but not on the market.
The TOP better ones around here are REALLY overpriced.
So not luck in finding the perfect place for you and the Mrs???
Born and raised on a small 'Green Acres' type of self sufficient farm, until I was in 7th grade...dad was blown off of a 3 story scaffolding doing a contract construction job and we ended up having to move into town
The older kids loved it, but my closest brother and I HATE IT.
So dad started buying homes to renovate and we'd all be put to work and fixer up and then dad would sell it and we'd start all over again; before they had a catchy name for 'Flipping Houses' --- people just called us 'poor white folks'!
From 7th grade to my Sr. Year graduation; we'd moved 6 times...and it always seemed to happen right before school was too start. We became very proficient at living out of our packing boxes and how best to pack it high & tight and move.
College - moved 3 times
Post College & marriage - five times for the crude oil company my husband I worked for; then the bust of 1980 meant a career change and we purchased a home and landscape business was started.
Lived there until he died and our landscape/commercial mowing business did as well {economy went to shit 1999}, so I moved here to take care of my mother --- 16 years in this home 'I' bought.

Re: How Many Times Have You Moved House? Any Regrets?
Life's a challenge isn't it!
I honestly have lost count of the number of times I have moved. With Dad being in the Air Force and me with the wanderbug, must have been 20 times by the time I had my kids, settled for a bit, although still moved twice, then when they were standing on their own to feet (sort of) I was off again (although youngest came with me, the others were settled) and then moved 6 times at least. Now I hope I might stay here, but who knows!

Re: How Many Times Have You Moved House? Any Regrets?
Well, who knows what the future holds for any of us ...because if 'I' had any clue that within 14 years my ABILITY to maintain all of this --- and all of my labor intensive landscape work would be a daily struggle; well, I might have rethought this grand scheme of mine and just kept my money and rented. Now I've watched this little berg slowly dry up - lots of elderly pass away and their homes sitting EMPTY and still 4-SALE and my mom's gone and I have some friends here but not anyone I'm related too!Stormee stated > Why the hell we are leaving here beats me, it is mega nice and secure here.
I would like to go back in the country but my wife duz not want to and I agree as if something happens to me she would have to move again.
And the housing market --- well, I'll be facing what I did back in 1999/2000 when I finally got my business and home sold...
LIFE - it can certainly be a HAZARD for making decisions.

Stormee wrote:We can walk away from this into another property and just wait for this to be sold but I want to tidy up loose ends just in case
Allegedly there are 2 cash buyers interested in this property but as yet they have not coft up.
Back to the grindstone tomorrow, estate agents are lazy bleeduz.
Yes, indeed; I fired 2 before I managed to find that someone SPECIAL {eager to earn his commission} when I was having to sell our landscape/commercial mowing business and then finally our home! Being sentimental and having to keep hearing buyers 'nit-picking' about the special touches that we'd installed into our large raised ranch got to wear on my last nerve.
And had I known just how awful/rapidly this economy was going to crap down here I would have just stood my ground and told my mother --- NO, BY GOD; you had us design the entire lower part of this house for you retirement --- YOU ARE MOVING UP HERE!
But I didn't and it was a HUGE mistake.

I might be LOST in dear Stormee's translation/post but he'd stated >
We are eager to move as 2 bathrooms, I toilet (3 in all) and a kitchen need remodelling, inside painting required throughout, outside Vgood..
To me that would mean 2½ baths in his new place! LOL Or he's just uncommitted and found 3 adorable ones and couldn't decide
