Capital letters for particular names
Lol Ben, because the site turns some letters into capitals (Muslim, Christian etc), you can't write Muslim all in capitals in a titale, I presume the same would be true for CHRISTAIN!

Re: Capital letters for particular names
It works for one but not for the other. That's discrimination ...

Nope, it only works for followers of Islam.

No it's not in the least a surprise. It was done when VOD and GIG were deliberately peppering posts with m.uslim with a lower case and C.hristian with an upper case over and over again. They were asked to use capitals for both and refused, so Ben made sure they had to.

Perhaps that should be changed now, otherwise it looks a bit biased.

Other people here will just keep doing it. That kind of treatment isn't given to any other religion here -- that's saying something.

Who will keep doing it? It's easy enough to get round anyway.

Re: Capital letters for particular names
since one doesnt use capitals when decribing any other group
one doesnt write "Engineers"
or "Farmers"
or"Miners"
why should religious groups get capitals at all. The "faith" should but NOT the "group of followers"
the collectve noun for the followers of a religion is not, strictly speaking a "proper noun"
like a name
Fred
Wilma
Islam
Christianity
Bhuddism
the only time a follower should get a capital is in the form
a follower of the Muslim faith
other wise he/she is merely a m.uslim
strewth...back to kindergarten with you

Re: Capital letters for particular names
Ben clearly thinks that m.uslims are much more important than anyone else.

Re: Capital letters for particular names
Its interesting actually
I never even noticed the kerfuffle with HF and the missing capitals...utill it was made into WWIII by certain people
NOW
here we have a prime example of folks being "offended on behalf of" others
I mean do you really think that many Muslims have the time/inclination to be bothered about the intricacies of english grammar?
Lets face it none of us on here are exactly "precise" with it at the best of times anyway

Re: Capital letters for particular names
I bet that if a m.uslim person on this forum used a capital "M" for Muslims and a lower case "c" for Christians, Ben wouldn't have said a word.

Re: Capital letters for particular names
Never wanted to see this turn into a hate site, and obviously Muslim haters seek alternative spellings, or to lower-case the name.
Re: Capital letters for particular names
but...the only time you can CAPITALISE the word Muslim (if you are going to be pedantic)
is when it is used as a synonym for islam
as in "the Muslim faith"
to be correct you are a Muslim should be lower case...
I am a pagan should be lower case
oh and rightly alternative spellings, especially those that are grossly offensive, naturally should not be allowed..

You mean like Sassy's alternative spelling for Christian?

Re: Capital letters for particular names
Anyway, you didn't need to change the spelling because it doesn't apply to "CHRISTIAN".

Christian Muslim Hindus Mormons
All of mine come up with capital letters and the answer is obvious:
It's how you always type it yourself - your PC or iPad remembers it and types it that

Yes it is. The reason mine come up with capitals us because that's how I type then and my iPad remembers, which is the same for everyone's iPad, phone or PC, when posting.
