Putin: Turkey shot down jet to protect ISIL oil supply
War of words continues over downing of Russian warplane near Syrian border, as Turkish PM again refuses to apologise.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Ankara of shooting down a Russian warplane to protect supplies of oil from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group to Turkey.
On the sidelines of a global climate change conference near Paris on Monday, Putin said the downing of the plane was a "huge mistake".
"We have every reason to think that the decision to shoot down our plane was dictated by the desire to protect the oil supply lines to Turkish territory," the Russian president said.
"We have received additional information which unfortunately confirms that this oil, produced in areas controlled by [ISIL] and other terrorist organisations, is transported on an industrial scale to Turkey."
Monday was not the first time that Putin has claimed that Turkey buys oil from ISIL.
Last Thursday, the Russian leader said there was "no doubt" oil from "terrorist-controlled" territory in Syria was making its way across the border into Turkey - a claim immediately denied by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Putin's strongly worded statement came hours after Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu again refused to apologise for the downing of the plane near the Syrian border last Tuesday.

And Cameron still clamouring for us to get involved. Stupidity that will be regretted for years to come.

This is all over the Internet, I've read this, and many stories about it.
It's obvious to me that this war is about oil/money/power

I mean seriously people are still falling for it hook line and sinker...
Although I do find the new atheist position amusing (if it weren't so stupid) that they have to kill them because "their god offends their no-god"

TWO NEW PIPELINES
Before the civil war, two competing pipelines put forward by Qatar and Iran aimed to transport gas to Europe through Syria.
Qatar’s plans were first put forward in 2009 and involved building a pipeline from the Persian Gulf via Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria and Turkey.
The gas field located 3000 metres below the floor of the Persian Gulf is the largest natural gas field in the world. Qatar owns about two-thirds of the resource but can’t capitalise on it fully because it relies on tankers to deliver it to other countries and this makes its gas more expensive than Russia’s.
It was hoped the pipeline would provide cheaper access to Europe but Syrian President Bashar al Assad refused to give permission for the pipeline to go through his territory. Some believe Russia pressured him to reject the pipeline to safeguard its own business.
more at source really good explaining some of the many economic interest that are fueling this conflict

Western firms plan to cash in on Syria’s oil and gas ‘frontier’
US, British, French, Israeli and other energy interests could be prime beneficiaries of military operations in Iraq and Syria designed to rollback the power of the ‘Islamic State’ (ISIS) and, potentially, the Bashar al-Assad regime.
A study for a global oil services company backed by the French government and linked to Britain’s Tory-led administration, published during the height of the Arab Spring, hailed the significant “hydrocarbon potential” of Syria’s offshore resources.

Nafeez Ahmen is an absolutely amazing journalist, who used to write for many of the top papers, but who was pushed out when he began finding out stuff that was too hot for them to handle. He's now publishes on this site, being crowd funded by people who realised quite how much he had discovered and how his was willing to say what others were to scared too.
Israel has already given the rights to oil in the Golan Heights (rights that are not theirs to give as it is officially still part of Syria) to a Rupert Murdoch owned company. Follow the money, follow the oil, and eventually you get to the truth.
Before the RW start screaming, yes ISIS are bad, yes ISIS are terrorists, but at the moment they control a large amount of the Syrian oil, and that's the reason Cameron etc wants war and is the reason why the USA is telling Russia to get out.

I wonder how all this will affect the reaction to the Chilcot report when it eventually gets published?
