Rep points

I'm not in favour of them myself.

I have asked admin about them but, because i can see that before the egg timer (that you get runs out)...Then you get to see the + & -

I can see that people are giving rep points....If we look at our profiles they are being given!

I can quite easily give thanks on my threads, but why can't we give thanks for individual posts?

What is happening there?

Actually it's the "+" and "-" symbols to the rights of user's posts.
Only seems to be on certain sub-forums on this forum though.

I had to conclude that KOS was right about reputation systems. They sound great in theory, but can too easily lead to petty alliances, picking on certain members, etc.

I agree with you, I have seen them be abused before in the past, they mean nothing really, as a post will stand up by itself if the points are executed well.

the problem with the rep system is its anonymous
and more offten than not minus votes are more vindictive than anything else that`s why we suspended them on SF
what we found was that a good post would me marked with a "greeny" alien

this was far more acceptable and less prone to the vindictive nature of some
