Hurricane Patricia: Mexico Set For 200mph Winds
Locals and tourists are being evacuated inland or moved to emergency shelters as one of the most powerful storms ever recorded barrels towards Mexico with winds of over 200mph.
Waves of 40ft (12m) are predicted to lash the coastline and experts say Hurricane Patricia could be powerful enough to fling cars down the street.
The US National Hurricane Centre says it is the strongest storm ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere and the third-strongest ever.
People on the country's west coast are being warned of "catastrophic consequences".
Some 400,000 people are in the eye of the storm but there are not enough shelters for everyone to take refuge.
The storm is expected to hit just before midnight (GMT) and is stronger than Typhoon Haiyan which killed 6,000 people in the Philippines two years ago.

Re: Hurricane Patricia: Mexico Set For 200mph Winds
The strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Americas is bearing down on Mexico's Pacific coast, threatening a "potentially catastrophic" landfall.
Mexican authorities have begun evacuating residents ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Patricia.
The storm is comparable to Typhoon Haiyan, which killed 6,300 people in the Philippines in 2013, the World Meteorological Organization says. A state of emergency has been declared in three states in Patricia's path.
The category five hurricane is expected to make landfall on Friday afternoon or evening, with winds of 325km/h (200mph).
Hurricane Patricia: Key questions
The US National Hurricane Center said on its website: "Potentially catastrophic Hurricane Patricia moving northward toward landfall in south-western Mexico."
The centre added that it was the strongest storm it had recorded in the eastern Pacific or the Atlantic.
Some 400,000 people live in vulnerable areas, according to Mexico's National Disaster Fund. The hurricane, which will bring torrential rain, could trigger flash floods and mudslides, the US centre said. It also warned of potential flooding from the sea and destructive waves.
The hurricane's winds are strong enough "to get a plane in the air and keep it flying", World Meteorological Organization spokeswoman Claire Nullis said.

It is, I'm really afraid for Mexico. We've been having thunderstorms for two days across large swathes of Texas from weather that has in part been created by this system; one of the low-lying streets near me is practically a river now.

Thanks, did 'copy video url' and got it, the camera keeps shaking like hell and then the stream stops, don't think it will hold up for very long, think its a web cam on the side of a hotel from what it says underneath.

OMG, fancy seeing that come towards you!
Seems Mexico was very lucky where it it and so far no deaths, although they don't know about floods and mud slides etc up on the hills away from the main towns. I can't even begin to imagine the wind force.

She hit shore right at Perula, at about 4:15 pm yesterday. Mountains broke it up. You'll get lots of wet, though.
She was the third largest storm ever recorded.

Oh dear, have you dropped so low you have ended up clinging on to other people's coat tails. Thought you would come up with something better to amuse me, but that was asking quite a lot I suppose.
