Florida school slammed for ‘lifeboat quiz’ asking kids if they would save ‘a black guy’ or ‘a Hispanic woman’

A Florida elementary school is taking heat for a “Lifeboat quiz” given to kids asking them who should live or die by forcing them to choose between “a black guy” or a “Hispanic woman,”  among others, reports Global News. According to Valerie Kennel, her 11-year-old daughter Leah was given the quiz and asked who should live in hypothetical sea disaster where a lifeboat only has nine seats but there is a diverse cast of 15 people wanting to board.

Among the choices students found “a black guy,” “a white guy,” a Hispanic woman” and “a rabbi.”
Along with “a police officer,” and “a pregnant woman,” sixth-graders must also decide if they want to save President Obama or businessman Donald Trump. “It’s racist in every form,” Kennel explained. “It has nothing to do with history. It has nothing to do with it, and what is it teaching them? Who do you pick? Why is one person better than the other? Why does someone get left out?”

According to the mom and her daughter, the test given at Giunta Middle School disturbed some of the students who refused to complete it. “I got kind of upset about it and everyone else in the classroom was like ‘this is racist, this is racist,'” Leah recalled, noting that one student was reprimanded for protesting the test. According to a statement from the Hillsborough County School District, the quiz was designed to promote team-building and cooperation, and is not intended to be racist. “This school has a culturally diverse population,” the statement reads. “The test brought up good debates on how to work together, building relationships.”

He did not contemplate people could choose off a variety of reasons that had nothing to do with race.
People could of picked off who they felt was closest to them to save, now matter if stated they were evenly apart, you could still choose off who you yourself felt was. You could choose off build, which you deemed was easier to save. You could choose off who you felt was most about to fall first, instinct making you go for that person. You could pick off age etc. There is a number of things you could choose and best of all you could flip a coin and let chance decide.

You just do not understand how people would decide differetly, where their race did not come into the decision, even when you try to force such a decision.

well i can since i created the scenario, thats the beauty and the sole point of a HYPOTHETICAL scenario walter

its designed to test specific aspects under specific conditions

i alone create every aspect of the scenario, if you choose to participate then you choose the restrictions i place on you, you cannot simply declare that you will "do this or do that"

you cannot decide that you will introduce criteria that will make your decision easier, that is not how its works.

i specificaly made it impossible to introduce mitigating circumstances by declaring that apart from race, in all other aspects the two candidates were equal.

this is obviously a sore point for you walter, and the more you try and justify your refusal to answer just magnifies your racist guilt.

if no one answered, then you would have a point, but eddie and elizel (of all people) answered without a shred of guilt and thus passed the test

You gave some discriptions about them and that we could only choose one.
The method how people choose is not yours to decide

Just like in this latest one, they offer many differnt aspects to some of the people and asked who would they save, again there is a multitude of choices over how they decide who is to be saved.

The UK is a lot whiter than the U.S., and my area in particular is just 40 percent white. So I probably associate with a lot more non-white people than you do.
