Palestinian woman shot after stabbing Israeli's in Jerusalem.
First topic message reminder :
The woman approached a Jewish man from behind and stabbed him in the upper body near the Lion’s Gate in Jerusalem, police spokeswoman Luba Samri told AP. The details of the attack are not yet clear. Earlier, information emerged that the assailant, a Palestinian woman, was critically wounded. According to Yeshiva World News, the attacker was shot dead on the spot.
Several reports in the Israeli media said the man was able to respond and shot his attacker.

Two Israelis have been stabbed by a Palestinian woman in the Old City of Jerusalem, Israeli police say.
The victims suffered light injuries and were being treated by medics, an ambulance spokeswoman said.
A police spokesperson said one of the victims shot the attacker and that she was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
The stabbing comes amid a surge in violence in Jerusalem and the West Bank that has left eight people dead.

Well the knife is next to that bucket thing with the bottle of water on top. Her body is on the other side of that wooden fence thing.
There's a video here which shows where she ended up.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSVIo1SnvfY
The thing is was she moved?
Again the military chaps would be best placed to say how far a shot would knock someone back
I don't know if she was moved. If she was, she was then moved back under the fence - as you can see in the video.
It's just so difficult to visualise the checkpoint and put it all in context. It just looks really weird.

To be honest rags she is next to the barrier on her back on the floor which would suggest she was shit in the front and like I said this would knock her backwards. I do not think she is that far away at all to be honest

At one point she was inside the fence with the soldiers, and at another point she was outside the fence. It's not clear where she was when she was shot, but why would they move her body outside the fence, and then move it back inside it again?
If she was shot inside the fence, she wouldn't fall back outside the fence. If she was near the bin/bucket when she was shot, and dropped the knife, there's no way she could have ended up outside the fence. They might have moved the knife later of course.

Here, she is outside the fence - on the other side to the bin thing.
And here she is on the inside of the fence - the same side as the bin thing.
There's no photo of her very near the bin - where the knife was.
Her body is outside of the fence - nowhere near the knife or the bin.
CAUTION - pic of body.

Who knows Rags is difficult to say.
Was the knife kicked away from her when it fell?
To me she clearly has been shot in the front as she is on her back.
Without a video of the events its impossible to tell and why I do not rule out anything.
Like I say she could have been murdered, looked for martydom, where she was not even armed.
Its the very bad aspect in islam taught in regards to Martydom, why some give their lives up so easily.

Is that a bag in the second picture?
To be honest in their position would you not be suspicious?

I see something which might be the bag.
Given the photos, the position of the knife, and the witness account, I would be inclined to say that this definitely needs further investigation, and the soldiers need to explain exactly what happened in a lot of a detail.

I believe it is being investigated Rags.
To me though why was she even approaching them?
To many unknowns

It was a checkpoint which people go through, yes?

But again why was she approaching?
What was the check point there for?
They already had their guns raised did they not?

I presume she wanted to go through the checkpoint, like others do. I don't know why there's a checkpoint there.
I think that they wanted to know what was in her bag or something, and she didn't respond, so they raised their guns According to the witness, she didn't understand what they were saying. Maybe they habitually point their guns at people they consider suspicious.

Well after she was shot I read that they tol people to stay back as they were suspicious of the bag, in case it was a bomb:
That could well be the reason she was shot if they feared she was a suicide bomber.
A video purporting to be from the scene shows a black-clad woman lying on the ground after being shot, with an Israeli warning others to avoid approaching her for fear she could have an explosive in a bag.
So in their position with someone not responding to their calls, its a recipe for a disaster to happen

If they shot her because they thought she might have a bomb, that would imply that the story of a knife wasn't actually true. I don't blame them for being wary of burka-clad women who have bags which they won't open, but it may well have been a complete misunderstanding - not the first one either.

Indeed its very difficult, in their situation where a person does not heed their call to halt, they would not doubt be in fear.
Who is to say about the knife though either, like I say that could have been kicked away from her after she was shot
Like I say I do not discount anything really

I'm not sure I believe the story about the knife. It looks like an old tatty knife - the kind that a workman might have.
I do think that anyone approaching a checkpoint should approach with caution, and be ready to put their hands up and open any bags they have- there's no sense in behaving in a suspicious manner when faced with men who have guns.
I read that there aren't really many settlers in Hebron. It seems a lot of fuss to protect a few hundred people. I think I'd just move really.

The settlements really are a hinderance to any peace process.

Yes, and it seems to me that it's pride which is making settlers stay in areas where they're not really wanted, or making Palestinians hostile to those who have settled. A few hundred settlers aren't going to be much of a threat to thousands and thousands of Palestinians who live there, and yet they must be seen as a threat, otherwise they wouldn't need protecting.
It's very difficult to imagine the scenario there. As much as people complain about relations between different ethnic groups in the UK, can you imagine such a fuss about who lives where?
