Boris Johnson extracted a £90m from Chancellor George Osborne in exchange for not ‘making mischief’ in his newspaper column, it has been claimed in a new book.
Osborne was due to make his keynote speech at the Tory Conference in 2011 on the same day as Johnson’s column was to appear in the Daily Telegraph, according to the book Call Me Dave, by by Tory peer and donor Lord Ashcroft.
