Refugee crisis: Croatia seals border crossings with Serbia
Croatia closes seven out of eight border crossings with Serbia while Slovenia turns back train carrying migrants:
Croatia became the latest country to try to stem the flow of refugees, by closing seven of its eight border crossings with Serbia “until further notice,” The move was announced by the country's interior ministry after 11,000 migrants crossed the border within 48 hours.
Meanwhile Slovenian police stopped a train carrying 150 refugees at its border with Croatia. The migrants, who Slovenia said did not have the correct papers, will be sent back to the Zagreb, the Croatian capital, a border police spokesman said. Earlier in the day Hungary declared success for its controversial efforts to seal its borders to migrants, as thousands of new arrivals begin heading into neighbouring Croatia instead.

Already been posted on another link by Gelico, it comes from the speculation of a Lebanese minister
So you think its good many Christians are going to denied asylum and thus have to then return to Syria and face further perseuction?

Yes if they don't have that right and if Christian men are not fighting for their own country then they are cowards like moslem men .
I don't favour anyone if they are wrong then they are wrong .

So how are they suppose to fight and support them families?
Not everyone is brave, people in combat have fled, even the toughest soldiers when faceing against the odds they will not win have fled.
So to claim they should stay and fight is basically saying they should place their children and family second to a countries cause?
So you believe in putting familes second then?
I do not care what you think as lets face your views are vile and have nothing to do with compassion and love.

Re: Refugee crisis: Croatia seals border crossings with Serbia
As the story of Europe's refugee crisis goes on, and after a summer that saw hundreds of thousands of people risking their lives to enter the continent, the sheer human cost of the crisis is becoming bigger.
On the borders of Hungary and Serbia, thousands of people meet at bottlenecks, desperate to get further into Europe. Today, hundreds of people broke through police lines at two border crossings between Serbia and Croatia, with people fainting and one man suffering a heart attack in the ensuing stampede.
Despite the horrific conditions, thousands of people, including young children, continue to take the risk, many of them fleeing war in their home countries.

Serbia's border with Croatia has become the latest flashpoint in Europe's refugee crisis as refugees seek alternative routes into Western Europe (Getty/EPA) UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon condemned the Hungarian border police, saying: "I was shocked to see how these refugees and migrants were treated. It's not acceptable."
While the crisis has only been getting worse in Europe over the last few months, the border crossings of Serbia, Hungary and Croatia have become flashpoints.
Refugee children are crushed as police maintain a blockade at the border between Serbia and Croatia Ahmad, a man from Idlib, a Syrian city which has been ravaged during the civil war, spoke to The Independent after he had implored Hungarian border guards to let him cross the border. "We want to come in a peaceful way but these people will be hard to control," he said. "We already died once in our country, we don't want to die again. If they saw Syria they would open the whole country for us. We want to know freedom."
Hungary's prime minister, Viktor Orban, is keen to keep refugees out of his country and out of Europe as a whole. At the border, some young men took their anger out by hurling rocks and bottles at the police.
Refugees in Hungary have clashed with police
Violence erupts between Hungarian riot police and migrants at the border crossing with Serbia in Roszke, Hungary, on the second day of a border crackdown Hungarian police responded by firing tear gas into the crowds of refugees, dispersing the stone-throwers but incapacitating the already weak refugees.
A refugee cries as he holds a child on the Serbian side of the border with Hungary in Asotthalom Following Hungary's crackdown on refugees, Croatia has become the new route of choice for many. Officially, Croatia has said that anyone entering the country must apply for asylum or be considered illegal immigrants.
However, Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic has said he will allow refugees to pass through the country into western and northern European countries.
Meanwhile, the UK looks poised to accept more refugees hoping to come here. David Cameron announced that the UK will take 20,000 refugees by 2020.
All will come from refugee camps bordering Syria, as the government is reportedly concerned that accepting those already in Europe would just encourage more to make the dangerous journey.
However, this figure is a fraction of the number of people that have arrived in Europe in the last few months. For many of them, the crisis is far from over.

I could post lots of pictures of starving children in Africa that seem to be forgotten now , if we fell for every sob story and every tragic picture we would be bankrupt .

Re: Refugee crisis: Croatia seals border crossings with Serbia
I'll put this post here as the other one seems to have wrong.
Just keeping it real for a moment, if several countries have put their foot down, and these refugees can't get through to western Europe, and they won't go to Russia, or stay in Serbia, etc, that pretty much leaves Turkey as an option, or them going back to Syria. Any other options?
It's impractical to expect such a large number of people to be given ideal accommodation at such short notice, and with more and more turning up.

Re: Refugee crisis: Croatia seals border crossings with Serbia
There seems to be some conflicting information. According to this report, refugees are being welcomed into Croatia.

Watching SKY News to day, I saw at least a dozen coal black faces and some that looked Chinese. Some were without doubt from Packistan. News reader on Al Jazera spoke to some genuine Syrians who said a lot of non Syrians were buying real passports Stolen from a Syrian Post Office and putting their own photo's in them.

It's a bit of a mess isn't it? It's all very well people saying - oh, they should all be looked after - but they're all over the place, thousands of them, and nobody knows if they're genuine or not. They're spilling into fields, trying to get on trains which are already full, and getting angry all the time.
