Illegal immigrants working in UK face six months in prison, ministers announce

Illegal immigrants will face six months in jail if they come to work in the UK and late-night takeaways and taxi firms will be closed if they employ them, ministers will announce. Ahead of net migration figures on Thursday that are expected to show a record number of foreigners are coming to the UK, the Government will unveil its latest crackdown on illegal foreign workers. As part of the plans drawn up in the wake of the Calais immigration crisis, the Government will create a new offence of illegal working which will come with a prison sentence of up to six months as well as an unlimited fine.

Why is this not already been happening!!!???


I read today that banks are now to be checking whether people here wanting bank accounts and/or loans etc are actually legally here!!!

Why have illegal immigrants been able to get away with having bank accounts and getting loans etc here anyway!!!???


Seems we are now starting to tighten up things to a level of what should have been happening anyway!!!



We should be requiring the setting up reception centres in other countries and continents to be able to fast track remove illegal immigrants to and be processed there at the cost of their home nations/continents etc...


All this bollocks about not being able to remove them because they have destroyed their IDs or passports etc should be stopped immediately!!!



Africans should be immediately removed to centres set up by African union, Asians to centres set up by India/Pakistan/Bangladesh etc... orientals to centres set up by China/Thailand/Vietnam etc... south Americans to south American centres etc .. and so on...


We need to end the madness!!!


And restore a straight forward common sense approach!!!

I fail to see why locking them up does anything than place more a burden of cost and further crowd the prison system.
If they are found guilty, then it should be automatic one way ticket to their home, as why further waste money?
If you want to hit something then like they say shut the emplers that employ them and have them face imprisonment.
That is where you target the source of where they find employemnt. You hit them and this would be a much better deterrant where then the work dries up.

Or no doubt less than the minimum wage.
Very much agreed though and if you are going to tackle the problem of illegal immigrants, then you hit the source of the income, those who illegally employ them. A better deterrant would be on those illegally employing people then facing conviction, would also get rid of lots of dodgy taxi firms as well.

We need to require continents to set up reception centres to send them back to because currently they claim to have no documents and their home countries refuse to have them... that is why there is so much delay... plus this costs us much more in the long run!!!



We already have illegal immigrant holding centres... if we fast track the removal as I said above... then these places could be used for the short sharp shock of 'prison' time and then quickly removed...

You are conflating different issues now.
You seem to think all who come here are illegal, that is incorrect.
