Girl, five, dies after head becomes stuck in Weymouth lift

A five-year-old girl has died after getting her head stuck in a lift in Weymouth, Dorset. Emergency services were called to a house at just before midday on Thursday after it was reported the child's head was stuck. It is thought the lift was a through-floor disability lift installed at the house.
The girl was cut free from the lift by firefighters, but pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesman for Dorset police said: "Police officers, paramedics and firefighters attended but sadly a five-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed and the coroner notified. "Emmadale Close has been closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident and for scenes of crime investigators to carry out an examination.
