New Flu Vaccine Could Protect Against All Strains
A new flu vaccine might be able to ward off all strains of this complex, rapidly mutating disease.
A new study in mice finds that, by presenting a cocktail of flu proteins to the immune system, researchers can induce immunity to strains that the animal has never encountered. Though scientists still have to test whether the vaccine is safe and effective in humans — clinical trials could begin in about a year — they hope the vaccine could prevent both seasonal flu and future flu pandemics.

Lets hope they suceed in their quest here.
Have a good evening everyone.

It really should only be given to people who have no immune system ie cancer patients
It's not something that just anyone should have.

Re: New Flu Vaccine Could Protect Against All Strains
why not?
or at least why not give it universally if a pandemic is threatened...
would you suggest that universal vaccination against small pox was a BAD idea ?
or POLIO
etc?
pandemic flu say H5N1 WOULD kill around 30 to 50% of the uk population in 6 months ...and the following year around another 20%

People under estimate the dangers of flu.

Re: New Flu Vaccine Could Protect Against All Strains
oh and thse figures are purely from the flu itself...never mind the potential death of another million or so due to social collapse and loss of vital services...like food distribution, hospitals closed due to lack of staff, loss of doctors,
the dead unburied secondary disese like cholera etc as infrastructure collapsed....

Very true.
I remember when polio was rife, and diptheria, my friend at junior school died of diptheria.
