Excellent and chilling point veya. Its almost the exact opppsite in Thailand and parts of Asia, hardly anyone has an opinion on anything, they learn by repetition of facts. It is worse imo. But facts are sacred, and opinion ought to be grounded on them.

the repetition learning is worse, but i also think is South east Asia there is significant difference to between the average education and the 'top dollar' education... Actually A lot of south east Asians over a particular economic class get educated in Australia or the USA.

I think currently in the west we are letting the pendulum swing too far the other way. we need a balance between empirical facts and debatable theorems... And probably more lessons on how to identify which is which.
