Dear Donald,
You've said some pretty offensive things about Latino immigrants recently, and I think they're worth addressing. Because, you know, this is the United States of America, where I have a right to speak up even if I'm not a billionaire. Isn't that awesome?
Anyway, I heard what you said about the kind of people you think Latino immigrants are -- people with problems, who bring drugs, crime and rape to America. While your comments are incredibly ignorant and racist, I don't want to spend my time chastising you. I'll leave that to your business partners like Univision and NBC, who have the power to scold you where it hurts. Instead, I'm writing to say thank you!
You see, what you just did with your straight talk was send more Latino voters to the polls than several registration rallies combined! Thank you for that. Here we are pounding the pavement to get American Latinos to the polls, while your tactic proves most effective. Remarks like yours will serve brilliantly to energize Latino voters and increase turnout on election day against you and any other candidate who runs on a platform of hateful rhetoric.
Do you know why that's such a big deal, Donald? Because Latinos are the largest, youngest and fastest-growing constituency in the United States of America. That's right! You are running for President in a country where the Latino population grew by over 49 percent from 2000-2012, while the rest of the country grew by 5.8 percent. What's more, we are the future. The median age of the average Latino is 27 years old, compared to 42 years old for white Americans. In case you need a translation, that means there are a whole lot of Americans who are Latino and have the right to vote. And, we're not going anywhere.

Unfortunately, it goes over the head...literally as well as figuratively. Trump will send a lot of voters to the polls, but he is only running in the Republican primary. There already are no Latinos voting in the Republican primaries.
If you want proof, where were the Latinos in the 2014 elections, when the Republicans took the Senate? Latinos: you've got to show up in the little elections too, where Donald Trump isn't out gaining popularity for himself. The little elections count!
Why do you think we have a nation ham-strung with inaction? It's because you give the noose to Republicans in the form of Congress. I wish I could get the message to America and other members of the sisterhood that the Koch Brothers aren't just out there designing for the presidential election...the little stuff counts too.

He's an idiot mainly because of what he said obviously, but in some way you may have to admire the fact he gave his view and didn't care whether it lost him votes or not?

Truth in the message is one thing, I admit. But it is overshadowed by the fact that the message is: I'll rape your daughters and kill your whole family.
Anyway, Donald Trump is not it it to become an elected official. He wants the publicity. He is following in Sarah Palin's footsteps.

Oh I never said he was good material for an elected official. He's bonkers. But at least he's truthful, I guess.

Yeah, to me the way democracy was always supposed to work is that the candidates say what they really believe and what they actually intend to do and then let the people decide. I would have had a lot more respect for Mitt Romney if he'd said that half of America considers itself victims who believe the government should take care of them during a debate rather than on a hidden-camera video.

There's nothing worse than a person, in a position of some power, using lies to promote themselves.

Conservatives have to lie. They represent special interests. Special interests yield money, but unfortunately the currency in politics is votes. There is an inverse relationship between wealth and votes: the more the money, the fewer the voters.
The conservatives must lie. It's not just 'Saddam has WMDs' or 'Obama is a Muslim' or 'there are death panels in the ACA'. Conservatives must divert attention away from the fact that their sole purpose is to depreciate the status of the average person, so as to elevate their own status...usually involving money, mind you.
Conservatives want to divert the public's attention to abstract issues like abortion (what is life) or religion (what is spiritual), and stay away from more economic, 'bread and butter' issues.
Liberals on the other hand don't have the same agenda. They are not living to cheat the average man, but to uplift his status in life. Liberals just want to fix things and make them better. Liberals have no reason to lie, and consequently they tend to tell it like it is.
RW and LW are not just two different brands; they are two different products.
