Episcopalian Church votes overwhelmingly in favor of performing same-sex weddings
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Episcopalians voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to allow religious weddings for same-sex couples, solidifying the church's embrace of gay rights that began more than a decade ago with the pioneering election of the first openly gay bishop.
The vote came in Salt Lake City at the Episcopal General Convention, just days after the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage nationwide. It passed in the House of Deputies, the voting body of clergy and lay participants at the meeting. The House of Bishops had approved the resolution Tuesday by 129-26 with five abstaining.
The Very Rev. Brian Baker of Sacramento said the church rule change was the result of a nearly four-decade long conversation that has been difficult and painful for many. Baker, chair of the committee that crafted the changes, said church members have not always been kind to one another but that the dynamic has changed in recent decades.

Awesome for them
Honestly I think these things are a matter of time. No one needs to put pressure on churches to do anything. Even the Church of England, I believe within my lifetime will allow same-sex marriages. Members of its congregation already support it even in the church, so its a matter of when not if.
I still wouldn't choose to marry in a church, but for those who would I imagine it is a major issue. But as I said, we should never force it, and wont need to.
The Catholic church is another ball game of course.

Agreed. It really didn't need yet another thread about it. It's clearly designed to provoke a response from HF.

See the game ragga is playing is the victim game that islamists and jews have been playing for years...
even daring to mention their faith is somehow forbidden on pain of "bigotry"
I think most of us have seen through that a long time ago.

Wow. This clearly is praising Christians, and it is a different point since this is church change not law.

if they are chosen to teach God's word they should know the word!!!!
"Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body."

The problem is that churches have been increasingly infiltrated by homosexuals for many years, following their perverted practices on young boys and each other along the way, now are in many organisations in sufficient enough numbers to pervert the organisations And even the religious dictats.

Not really. The Episcopal church has little history with abuse compared with other churches.
Meanwhile the most prolific church where child abuse is concerned, the Roman Catholic church, is the most homophobic and least open to change of all.

Don't be ridiculous.
And little is too much I agree.
The point was (obviously) that tommy's post was rubbish by the fact the most anti-gay church is the most abusive; and the most gay friendly is least abusive.

That is taking pride anyway, which is a deadly sin.
