Two centuries ago next week, a rag-tag European army led by an Irish general defeated the French near a village south of Brussels. Next Thursday, Friday and Saturday 5,000 people will dress up in old uniforms to stage the most ambitious ever re-enactment of “The Battle That Changed History”. There has been great excitement about the bicentenary of the Battle of Waterloo in Britain; much less so in France. The old enemies agree, nonetheless, in perpetuating myths about Waterloo (starting with the dubious proposition that the battle “changed history”).

a read a piece that claimed massive graves had been found in Russia and these graves were full of Napoleon's old guard, his finest most trusted troops, if followed the assumption that his Russian campaign had been disastrous and cost him the majority of his best soldiers and the "old guard" that fought in the battle of Waterloo that allegedly finally broke ranks and fled, which was formerly unheard of by these elite troops were in fact lesser troops dressed for its effect, it was really quite interesting..
