Clinton's strategy: Highlight the devils in the details of GOP proposals Empty Clinton's strategy: Highlight the devils in the details of GOP proposals

Should be a good read for anybody interested in political strategy. I think it's brilliant, too:

The nature of the strategy involves staking out a variety of progressive issue positions that enjoy broad support, but it’s not as straightforward as simply identifying the public sentiment and riding it to victory. The key is to embrace these objectives in ways that makes standard Republican counterspin completely unresponsive, and thus airs out the substantive core of their ideas: Rather than vie for conservative support by inching rightward, Clinton is instead reorienting liberal ideas in ways that make the Republican policy agenda come into greater focus.

Most recently, Clinton has adopted an aggressive position in support of expanded voting rights. “We have a responsibility to say clearly and directly what’s really going on in our country,” she said in her latest campaign speech Thursday, “because what is happening is a sweeping effort to disempower and disenfranchise people of color, poor people, and young people from one end of our country to the other.”

***

Because this kind of obscurantism pervades the GOP’s substantive agenda—through tax policy, social insurance reforms, workplace regulation—Clinton should be able to deploy the tactic across a wide array of issues.

Well, that's fine.  It's only an little more difficult chess game.  It takes being a better chess master...and an understanding of how to present things so that everyone gets it.

Conservatives are not very intelligent, as I've often pointed out.  But what they do have is lying, and repeating themselves...over and over and over.  How many times did they vote to repeal Obamacare? ...did they raise Benghazi?  etc. etc.

Let's face it, conservatives have a bad product.  Nobody buys into economic selfishness, perpetual war, and other train wrecks that conservatives are selling.  On the progressive side, take any issue and ask them: what do you propose?  The answer is spit, sputter, fluth...  They want lower taxes and deregulation...and they get to keep the money for themselves.  That's all.  Now, it's not hard to defrock that!

So, good luck Hillary.  Any way you look at it...it's smooth sailing.

Seems to me that this is a great way to show how bad the conservative product really is, though.

Yes...  But then, these days any way is a great way to show how bad the conservative product is.  Seriously...it's not a happy or forward-looking agenda.  They hate blacks, women, and particularly Hispanics, but any immigrants, they despise Muslims, they want no minimum wage, they do not want to repair infrastructure or build anything...send everything overseas, and they want wars, wars, wars, together with healthy doses of kidnapping, rape, torture and killing.  And they want to spend all the national treasury killing Muslims, Asians...and when they get around to it, Africans, South and Central Americans, Malaysians and maybe a few Noongar or Palawah just to spread the joy all around.

My point is that conservatives have such an unhappy agenda that it is pretty hard for them to hide it.  Add to that that they don't do anything...they pass no legislation because they are afraid it will raise taxes.  And...their candidates are ugly and their mothers dress them funny.  If it's not hidden, or its non-existent, and there's no pretty candidates...what is Hillary going to do in the way of highlighting their positions and rejoinders to show their abject failure? They've done it all for her.

It would be a fruitful strategy to play out, but there's no fruit to play with.

But...you know, she's not going to be beaten by the clown car the Republicans are putting up.
