Alaska judge faces penalties for suggesting teen sex abuse victim may have been a ‘temptress’
An Alaska judge was accused by a state commission of serious misconduct for misogynist comments on the bench.
Nome Superior Court Judge Timothy Dooley could face suspension or dismissal for suggesting a 14-year-old sex assault victim could have been a “temptress,” among other sexist comments, reported KTUU-TV.
“Has anything good ever come out of drinking other than sex with a pretty girl?” Dooley said during one sentencing hearing, according to a complaint filed by the Alaska Commission on Judicial Misconduct.
During another, involving the teen victim, the judge said he hated to use the phase, “asking for it” — but he did anyway.
“There are girls out there that seem to be temptresses, and this does not seem to be anything like that,” Dooley said.
He apologized to jurors in another case that he could not “slap around” a soft-spoken woman witness.
Dooley told jurors in a civil case that medieval Christians believed hell awaited someone guilty of perjury.
“You all may not share that, but I’m planning to populate hell,” the judge said.
Dooley, a former firefighter and rancher, was appointed to the bench in 2013 by Republican Gov. Sean Parnell and faces re-election next year.

Sarah Palin country, it's a wonder they prosecuted him, very glad they did.
