Luke 13:11
And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.
Imagine being bowed over for 18 years. All you would see is the dust on the ground. That was the predicament of the woman in Luke 13. Dust was all her eyes fell on, all the time, everywhere she went, until she became dust-conscious. Thank God she finally saw the beautiful feet of Jesus, who brought her good news and raised her up.

Now, dust is the devil’s food. The Bible tells us that God cursed the devil to eat dust all the days of his life. (Genesis 3:14) Dust represents death. (Genesis 3:19) The devil wants you to be like him—to fall flat on your belly, crawl and eat dust. To eat dust is to feed on your shortcomings and lack, until you constantly feel that there is so much in your life that you need to clean up. You may not be physically bowed over, but like the woman, you become dust-conscious and life every day is a struggle.

Having a dust-consciousness also affects the way you see others. You look at people’s faults all the time. You point out their shortcomings and rake up their past failures. When you are dust-conscious, you find your relationships robbed of peace and joy.

And if you, like the woman, keep looking at the dust, before long, that inward position of dust-consciousness becomes so entrenched that you become the devil’s food because dust is what he eats. God’s Word describes him as being like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:Cool

If you don’t want to be devoured by him, then lift your eyes above the dust! Instead of looking at your failures, look to Christ who has delivered you from every defeat. See yourself the way God sees you—righteous and holy in Christ. (Colossians 3:12; 2 Corinthians 5:21) You are not dust because you are not in and of the flesh—you are in and of the Spirit. (Romans 8:9)

My friend, the more you realize who you are in Christ, the more you will straighten up and walk the way God sees you—a new creation with His authority, power and overcoming Spirit!

Thought For The Day
Instead of looking at your failures, look to Christ who has delivered you from every defeat.

Zechariah 9:12
Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.
I am sure that you have heard the expression, “When life throws lemons at you, make lemonade!” Well, I want you to know that when the devil throws lemons at you, God Himself will make lemonade for you! After all, the Bible says that God works all things together for your good. (Romans 8:28)

And He does it with style—He restores double for your trouble! Beloved, if you have lost a husband or wife through divorce, or a precious child through death, God can restore double to you, so that you end up having more than before, if not in quantity, then in quality!

Consider Job in the Old Testament. When he lost everything, his wife told him to curse God and die. He refused and, instead, responded to God in faith, and “the Lord gave to Job twice as much as he had before”. (Job 42:10)

When David lost the child he had with Bathsheba, he stopped pleading and started worshiping God because he trusted in the mercies of God. Later, God blessed David and Bathsheba with another son named Solomon, who became the wisest and richest king the world has ever known.

Today, God promises to restore double for your trouble—“Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.” If He declared it, He will do it! So you cannot but have hope that things will be even better than before. That is why in the same verse, He calls you “prisoners of hope”. My friend, hope in the biblical sense means a confident expectation of good things happening in your life. You are a prisoner of that! You can’t help but wake up feeling hopeful. You can’t help but expect good things to happen to you!

So when trouble comes from the devil, don’t give up and say, “It is hopeless!” Don’t worry or get angry. Worship God like David did and see that trouble as an opportunity for God to bless you with more than what you originally had. And because God has declared it, be confident that you will get double for your trouble!

Thought For The Day
Because God has declared it, be confident that you will get double for your trouble!

Ephesians 1:6
…He [God] made us accepted in the Beloved.
Studies have shown that in the heart of every child is a cry for his father’s approval. Something happens when a father says to his boy, “Daddy is so proud of you.” Or when a father says to his girl, “You will always be Daddy’s favorite girl.”

You can catch such a similar special moment in the Bible when God the Father displayed His approval of His Son — “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17) The Bible shows us that Jesus’ ministry began with the approval of the Father, even before He had performed any miracle.

Now, you may think that God would naturally say that of Jesus, but not of us. My friend, the truth is that Jesus came for us and as us. He died for us and as us. He received the approval of the Father for us and as us. He came as our representative. And if that is not enough, God tells us in His Word that we are “accepted in the Beloved”!

Why did God specifically say “accepted in the Beloved” and not simply “accepted in Christ”? I believe that it is because He is calling to our remembrance what had happened at the Jordan river where He said, “This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” God wants us to know that we are His beloved and that He is well pleased with us.

God sees us as His beloved because He has made us accepted in the Beloved. He wants us to wake up every day knowing that we are His beloved, unconditionally loved and wholly approved.

The more we know how much we are loved and treasured by God, the more we can expect good things to happen in our lives. We can expect to be healthy and whole. When we realize that we are the objects of God’s love, instead of becoming easily frightened or threatened by anything or anyone, we become confident that we will win every fight of life.

That, my friend, is how your heavenly Father wants you to live. So live life today confident that you are God’s beloved!

Thought For The Day
Like Jesus, you are God’s beloved, unconditionally loved and wholly approved.

Hebrews 10:12

But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,
Do you know that we once owed God a huge debt? No, it was not a money debt, it was a sin debt. We owed God a sin debt which we could never pay. But God so loved us that He came up with a plan to pay the debt—He gave us His Son to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus was without sin. So when He went to the cross as punishment for our sins, He paid for us a debt He did not owe.
My friend, the reality is that our sin debt has been more than paid in full. In fact, Jesus overpaid it! Jesus’ sacrifice was an overpayment because it was not just a good man, revered for his saintly qualities and good character, who died for us. It was the Son of the living God, the Creator of the universe, the perfect Man, who died for us!
Because Jesus is God, His sacrifice is greater than the sacrifices of all good men—past, present and future—put together. His sacrifice avails for all who lived in the past, all who are currently alive and all who will live in the future. And His one sacrifice forever took away all our sins.
Jesus’ sacrifice was also an overpayment because His blood is of far more value to God than the blood of bulls and goats used in the past to atone for the sins of the Israelites. His blood is the blood of God Himself, not of animals. Because His blood is eternal, His blood cleanses us forever, so we have eternal forgiveness!
My friend, the next time you are mindful of a bad deed, remember that Jesus, your sacrifice for sins, not only paid 100 per cent for your sin, but His sacrifice was also an overpayment. You can therefore truly and completely rest in the presence of God, knowing that He is fully satisfied and completely at rest concerning you. He is not going to find some sin you had committed that Jesus’ blood failed to cover.
Beloved, God can righteously give you His blessings and you can expect to receive them because Jesus overpaid your debt!

Thought For The Day

Because Jesus overpaid your debt, you can truly and completely rest in the presence of God.

What's the matter, don't you like the competition.   If we are going to have a daily devotional it should be open to all religions, after all, this doesn't purport to be a christian forum, so anyone can add a devotional from their beliefs, whatever they might be.

Of course any thread is open to anyone to post on, but I think that if a thread is clearly set up for a particular purpose, and it's not harming anyone, why not just keep off it if you don't like it?

I purposely made the title obvious so no one could wander on to it by accident, I have complained but I have a feeling that those who shout loudest about racism etc will gladly themselves discriminate against people they do not agree with and do nothing.

It is not down for you to decide if people wish to add their own motivational beliefs.

Many threads change in the course of debate and this is in fact a debating form is it not.

You did in fact say you had no intention of talking about religion and of which you can of course change your mind.

Just because a Christian thread is started does not mean others cannot post motivational views on this.

I don't know about that - the thread about the "jihadi brides" has partly turned into one about paedophiles, and even about Waco.

I just think this thread is harmless - it's not argumentative or challenging anyone - so I don't see why it can't be left alone by athiests for once.

So those of non belief cannot pl;ace their motivaltional views because some Christians are too insensitive, yet they can at the same time start a thread saying why cannot people be ignorant and be racist, as racism is a man made human conception.

Seriously I love how people think they can run forums they are guests on

ahh the lefty equality at it again

here's HF started a thread for those who may wish to drop in on it...

and the left (and note it IS the left) are straight onto it and causing trouble

As you all know I am Pagan  and dont always see eye to eye with HF (in fact at times I could cheerfully stangle him) BUT

this thread isnt doing any harm...its not being contentious etc

IF you pagans want to make comment on a thread ...why not make one....(a thread that is)

as Pagans we are supposed to "accept any faith" as valid on the basis that we all have our own path to follow...

That doesnt mean we should accept the bad baggage

but neither does it mean we should go out of our way to be disruptive or contentious....

but hey ho ......

live and let live is only a convenience to the left.......

to be honest i just feel risingsun has jumped on to spoil it because she doesn't believe in God and doesn't like HF or me , but also because HF has been debating with other posters and many have been talking to him and i feel risingsun doesn't like that very much so like a child in nursersy school who is jealous of the popular kid with his friends has come and knocked the bricks down .

the point is ...if you WAT a daily devotional for pagans then it would be if nothing else , merely polite to start a seperate thread for it.

you wouldnt walk into a church in the middle of mass and hold a sabat would you....?

or would you?

as to the other threads they are fair game as they are directly meant as debate threads

it seems to me the lefts idea of tolerance is defined soley by the left and varies according to what pleases them....

I certainly doesnt meet the dictionary term.....

What if a person disagrees with the views of Christianity and finds it insulting to the point that such threads are at best deceiving people because after all Christianity is just an ideology like anything we find from racism  to homophobia. What you are trying to do is deny any direct challenge to such views in fact defending them from any criticism

Sorry but anything can be challenged even more so if you find that faith hypocritical in every aspect.

PMSL since you evade every difficult question put to you

Apologize to Sassy for your vile remark by doing this in a thread by yourself and you will have your threads for devotion to your faith left alone

Its that simple

If not, I shall enjoy tearing your faith apart.

Laughing

It will be not only a pleasure but a hobby

HF, if you want to keep this thread for the purpose you intended it for, it's best not to rise to the baiting. Just a suggestion.

HF, you really want to insist on original work when you lifted that entire devotional from this website without even crediting where you found it?

On 5 October 2008, in an interview with the Sunday Times, Prince, also the executive chairman of the church council, acknowledged that he was "well-paid" but also added that "money doesn't have a hold on me", dismissing allegations that his salary was $50,000 a month.[3]
On 30 March 2009, The Straits Times reported that the church paid one employee between $500,001 and $550,000 in its last financial year. Under the recommendations of the Code of Governance for charities then,[16] all charities and non-profit organisations in Singapore are encouraged to disclose the salary bands of their top executives to the Commissioner of Charities. While not confirming the identity of the employee, the church responded that its policy is to "recognize and reward key contributors to the church and Senior Pastor Prince is the main pillar of our church's growth and revenue."[17][18] On 15 April 2009, Matthew Kang, the Honorary Secretary of the church, responded that it was not a public charity and did not solicit public donations, asserting that "there is absolutely no compulsion to give whether in tithes or offerings, and any giving is done out of a willing heart", and that "every giver is appreciated and it is taken in good faith that he believes in the elected leadership and will trust them to make good decisions for the particular church he has chosen to attend, whether as a member or a visitor."[19]
On 7 June 2010, it was reported that Prince has not been on the church payroll since 2009.[20][21]
In October 2014, a list published by entertainment website richestlifestyle.com placed Prince as the 10th richest pastor in the world, with a reported net worth of S$6.4 million (£3.13 million). [22] New Creation Church dismissed the report, claiming that his actual net worth was 'substantially lower' than the reported figure.

Seems to make a load of money out of gullible people

Still I do fell sorry for them as they are naive, so they are not really at fault.
Shame they are so easily taken in

I said to nemesis for a point of debate use yur own work and knowledge...

the daily devotional was not intended for debate just encouragement that's quite a difference..

the reason being if yu are going to debate a subject you need a knowledge of the subject...
