moreover Sassy if your "massaged " graph WAS true , given that in real terms spending on the NHS has in fact increased year on year, IF that figure had gone down in terms of gdp BUT up in real terms there is only ONE conclusion to be made

and that is that GDP has risen at a rate equal to the sums of the % increase in spending AND the rate of decrease of that spending as part of GDP

effectively what you are saying is that GDP increased LAST YEAR by about ~~12%~~ 9% in total

score one for the tory's then.....

The letter is there just to prove that the Tories tried to con us all that they had increased NHS spending when they hadn't. Consider it a reminder.

The chart is from the OBR and is not a leftie creation at all.

Sorry Vic but the OBR clearly shows that it has gone down in relation to GDP - the correct way to measure these things.

moreover you prize muppet the letter IS NOT talking about your "graph"

the letter itself questions whether or not the increases IN REAL TERMS is correct since the figures are within the error possible ....

"given the small sizes of the changes and the uncertainties associated with them"

and as we see in that chart I posted , indeed in 2012, the increase WAS only .2% which is marginal to say the least

BUT BY 2014 the increase was 9.3% cumulative IN REAL TERMS

what YOU dont want to admit is, that if that is so, your pet graph shows GDP MUST have increased by a phenomenal 13%

I never said the graph was about the letter. But by all means read the letter which explains how to measure public spending and GDP deflaters.
