Civil-Rights Veteran Slams the Anti-Israel 'Jim Crow' Smear
In an opinion piece in the New York Post, retired attorney and civil-rights activist Andrew Goldman writes:
http://blog.camera.org/archives/2015/04/civilrights_veteran_slams_the_1.html
The entire piece is worth a read. Find it here.In their campaign to smear the Jewish homeland, Israel’s enemies regularly raid the history books for the worst examples of human cruelty. Israel has been compared to the former apartheid regime in South Africa and even Nazi Germany.
Now, Israel-haters across America are seizing on a fresh analogy — accusing Israel of replicating the Jim Crow South.
[…]
As a lawyer for the Council of Federated Organizations, an umbrella group that brought a wide array of civil-rights groups together, I was in there on the ground during the famous “Freedom Summer” of 1964.
We civil-rights workers triumphed when the landmark Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964. As we strove to achieve that goal, we never questioned the right of whites to live in the area, unlike the Palestinian leaders who assert that Jews are an alien presence.
We never threatened to drive the whites of the South into the Mississippi Delta, in marked contrast to the bloodthirsty Arab war cry of “driving the Jews” into the Mediterranean Sea.
We didn’t have the support of entire nations who send money and arms to Palestinians and back terrorist attacks, as Arabs in the territories do today.
For that reason, I can no longer be a bystander as the noble legacy of the civil-rights movement is hijacked by a campaign whose goal is the destruction of Israel.

You always get one, all the other civil rights veterans disagree with him, and so they should.
BTW, the actual Veteran civil right lawyer was Andrew Goodman, and he was murdered, Andrew Goldman doesn't show up as a well known activist.

Well he rightly sees how it is very much disgusting to claim a comparison, because as seen he rightly showed there is no comparison and again people are making unfounded accusations to recruit people to hate Israel and by proxy its people. Honest criticism is fine, down right lies and fabrications as this latest claim is, verge on antisemitism.

Re: Civil-Rights Veteran Slams the Anti-Israel 'Jim Crow' Smear
Total rubbish, he is outnumbered by the thousands of civil rights activists in America, South Africa, and not the Etheopians in Israel etc who can see exactly how similar their struggle is.

Re: Civil-Rights Veteran Slams the Anti-Israel 'Jim Crow' Smear
Is he outnumbered?
You seem to think numbers makes for a valid case, it does not, what makes for a valid case is showing the comparisons, of which he has rightly shown there is no comparison and even worse you seem to want to endorse fabrications which lead to hate.
It utterly appalls me how some fail to see the hate they are generating and for what purpose, to weaken Israel to the point of being over run and this is what some of the left want, as there is no valid reason to make this claim other than to spread hate, because the claim is baseless

I seem to think that a lot of civil rights activists know exactly what they are talking about, and you always get one dipstick in a crowd.

Where are these fellow civil rights activists who participated with him bringing about Civil rights in America that disagree with him then?
As seen he has shown some simple points to show there is no comparison, where again such a fabrication is being used to stoke up hate against Israel and its people.

Four REAL veterans:
The four American Jews above are on a national campus tour. All in their 70s, they are veterans of the civil rights movement; they went south 50 years ago to help free our country from Jim Crow, risking their lives for equal rights.
But they have been banned from speaking at Hillel, the Jewish campus organization, because they have come out in favor of Palestinian human rights.
Last Wednesday they were to speak at Swarthmore Hillel, but the gangster who runs Hillel, former congressman Eric Fingerhut, hinted at legal action if the students dared to let them speak– so the students had to start a new Jewish group called Kehilah just to hear them.

South African Civil Rights Leader Calls Israeli Apartheid of Palestinians Much More Violent than South African Government Treatment of Blacks
By Ann Wright
Reverend Dr. Allan Boesak, a South African civil rights leader who worked with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela to end apartheid and promote reconciliation in South Africa, calls the Israeli treatment of Palestinians “much more violent than the South African government treatment of blacks.”
In a discussion at the Harris Methodist Church on January 11, 2015 with social justice leaders in the Honolulu, Hawaii community, Dr. Boesak said that black South Africans faced violence from the apartheid white government and that he went to funerals each week of those killed in the struggle, but never on the scale that the Palestinians face from the Israeli government. The South African government killing of blacks was small compared to numbers of Palestinians the Israeli government has killed.
405 black South Africans were killed by the South African government from 1960-1994 in eight major incidents. The largest number of blacks killed in specific incidents were 176 in Soweto in 1976 and 69 in Sharpeville in 1960.
In contrast, from 2000-2014, the Israeli government killed 9126 Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. In Gaza alone, 1400 Palestinians were killed in 22 days in 2008-2009, 160 killed in 5 days in 2012 and 2200 killed in 50 days in 2014. 1,195 Israelis were killed from 2000 through 2014. http://www.ifamericansknew.org/stat/deaths.html
In the face of overwhelming violence, Dr. Boesak commented that it is human nature that a violence response by some is inevitable, but that it is incredible that the response of the majority of Palestinians is non-violent.

Re: Civil-Rights Veteran Slams the Anti-Israel 'Jim Crow' Smear
So out of 4 spammed links, you find 4 civil rights activist to back your stance from the Civil rights movement in America in comparison, who are utterly wrong here stoking hate. So instead Sassy posts not about the claim made in regards to Jim Crow South, but claiming Israel is an Apartheid state, basically insulting every single Black person who suffered under Apartheid in South Africa. There is net to no comparison with the laws under Apartheid and the laws governing the citizens of Israel which includes countless ethnic and religious groups. In fact the citizens there have more rights than any Arab state in the region and if any State has similarities to Apartheid, this would be Saudi Arabia, all conveniently ignored of course, by those making the most unfounded hateful claim on Israel.
So we have a facebook link, no more needed to be said on that and that is what happens when people do not know the facts and have to google. 4 Civil rights Jews who are stoking hate against Israeli Jes. One Reverend who is clearly making an utter mockery of the plight of the blacks under Apartheid, being as Israel has many equality laws, who again makes no view on Jim Crow South..
And a video of Mandela all of which have no bearing on the Jim Crow South claims
Seriously, is that it?
So to rebuke the Reverend:
Irwin Cotler, a Jewish Canadian MP and anti-apartheid activist who was once a lawyer for Nelson Mandela said "The second manifestation [of anti-semitism] is the indictment of Israel as an apartheid state [which involves] more than the simple indictment of Israel as an apartheid state. It involves a call for dismantling Israel" He links this to other forms of delegitimization of the Jewish state by Palestinians, such as their attempt to deny any Jewish historical or religious links to the Holy Land as such, and especially to Jerusalem itself
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_and_the_apartheid_analogy
Of course Mandela believed in the right to exist of the Israel nation and he never claimed it was an apartheid state. He was certainly against the occupations, but now Gaza is not occupied and there is disputes with the west Bank which is Governed by Fatah. The Settlements have soldiers to protect them, all of which should be withdrawn from the West Bank. There is no case for Apartheid.
Reform Judaism was on the forefront of the civil rights movement in the 1960s. The head of the movement, Rabbi Rick Jacobs, told The Times of Israel this week, “Comparing the fight for civil rights in America to the struggle between Israel and the Palestinians simply doesn’t work. “The Israeli-Palestinian issue is a complicated geopolitical maze that has many components to it; it needs its own template and can’t be reduced to a simple matter of right and wrong, as the struggle for civil rights in the US so clearly was,” said Jacobs. A participant at this weekend’s Bloody Sunday march re-enactment, Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism head Rabbi Jonah Pesner, said that as in the past, his delegation this week showed solidarity with the black community as Jews. They marched with black congregations, many of which are pro-Israel, said Pesner, to “reaffirm the civil rights movement of the past and keep the struggle moving forward.”
To make an equivalency between the civil rights struggle in the Deep South and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is, he said, a “misunderstanding of history.” “I think it’s really clear that the State of Israel, considering the neighborhood it’s in, it’s a real ironic misuse or misunderstanding of history to associate the violation of civil rights with the State of Israel,” Pesner told The Times of Israel.
“Israel in many ways treats the Arab and Palestinian populations with more decency and more civil rights than the vast major of the neighborhood. To do some kind of blanket condemnation is un-nuanced and misunderstands history,” he said.

So with those above and adding Civil rights activist like Bayard Rustin who supported Israel. It clearly shows that these 4 civil rights activist are insulting the Civil right movement, are here is someone who actually suffered here in Bayard Rustin. He never claimed Apartheid or a comparison to the civil rights movement in the US. Hence e why these fur fail to see that even though there intentions are good, they are doing far more harm by claiming something unfounded. To compare to the US civil rights movement is a mockery to the blacks who suffered for years. To make such unfounded claims is disgusting as they seek to demonize Israel based off a false premise
