Sen. Bernie Sanders to seek Democratic nomination for president
He's not going to get it, but this guy is a hero -- the longest-serving member of Congress, an independent and a self-described democratic socialist:

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will launch a campaign seeking the Democratic nomination for president in 2016 on Thursday.
Sanders will be the first official challenger for the Democratic nomination to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who launched her campaign earlier this month.
Sanders' decision was first reported by Vermont Public Radio, and confirmed by The Huffington Post.
Sanders, who first entered the Senate in 2007, has criticized Clinton for being too soft on Wall Street and has doubted whether Clinton can address income inequality.
Sanders has been an outspoken critic of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade deal the Obama administration is negotiating with 11 Pacific countries. Sanders is also a critic of the controversial Citizens United Supreme Court decision, which struck down corporate campaign contribution limits. Sanders has tried to pass a constitutional amendment to overturn the decision.
While Clinton is heavily favored over Sanders, the Vermont senator's entry in the race will provide a platform for Democrats to criticize Clinton from the left. Sanders' presence could also highlight a divide between progressive and moderate Democrats.

I like him. Both he and Warner are to the left of Hillary. It's good that the left-of-center will be heard.
I'm not entirely happy with Hillary's programs either, but no one is going to stop her...least of all me. Lol.

He started in politics as the socialist mayor of Burlington, Vermont. Can you imagine someone running as a socialist in the US...and winning?!
I think he''s great...and a plain speaker.

Re: Sen. Bernie Sanders to seek Democratic nomination for president
I completely agree from what i have seen of him seem like a real down to earth guy but it`s unlikely he will get the nomination because Hilary is seen in the shadow of her husband presidency that saw the country with big deficit reduction ,health care, hand gun reform(such as it was) and taxes on 15 million low-income families cut ect ectOriginal Quill wrote:He started in politics as the socialist mayor of Burlington, Vermont. and despite bill`s "unique" stress reduction mistake he is still very popular and her perhaps more so
however that said she should "if" she wins the nomination as seems likely have Bernie as her running mate for vice president

What's so weird for me is to see younger Americans talking about Bernie Sanders like he's some new discovery He's been the unsung hero of the left in the U.S. for decades ...
