San Bernardino sheriff’s officials under investigation after getting caught on video brutalizing theft suspect
Sheriff’s officials in San Bernardino County are under investigation after they were caught by a news helicopter swarming and mauling an unarmed man after he was on the ground, KNBC-TV reported on Thursday.
The attack on 30-year-old Francis Jared Pusok came after Pusok was hit by a Taser and fell face-first. KNBC estimated that in a two-minute span, Pusok was punched 37 times, kicked 17 times and hit four times with a baton.

I keep wondering which of these in the long series of police brutality incidents is going to finally be the watershed moment that we need to actually address this problem with the urgency it deserves. We still have far too many people here who just say, "Well, you shouldn't run from police if you don't want to get beaten or killed."

The thing is Ben, as much as these keep happening and I am glad they are being caught on film, I do feel sorry for the decent cops out there, because so many people are going to start to have a huge mistrust of them all based on these incidents.
Hopefully technology is the key to help prevent Police brutality, where all officers would have to wear a cam. Seems severe but at present its needed.

Totally agreed on the cams, and for what it's worth, I know I couldn't put up with what the police have to put up with. Still, this needs to lead to some real reform. I'd suggest that perhaps police need to undergo more rigorous psychological examination as well.

The problem is, that's like saying look what crime is doing to our lovely Beverly Hills. The answer is not to suppress the videos, as the other thread on Texas legislators mentions, but do something about the wrongdoers.
You've literally got organized crime in American law enforcement, and so clean it up!

Law enforcement, like Caucasian women, white people and gun nuts, are the darlings of the American criminal justice system. Cops will almost never be prosecuted, and rarely are they convicted if they are prosecuted. Look at George Zimmerman, and he was only a Pepsi-Cola cop.
The bias is in the criminal justice system, and is reflective of American society generally. These murders touch upon two of America's most sensitive sores: race and cops. Blacks have always been second-class citizens in America, beginning with slavery less than two-hundred years ago.
Cops? What do you think all those TV shows that glorify cops and vilify the bad guy, does to the policeman's image? Take the case of Amadou Diallo: a defenseless black man reaching for his identification, shot 41-times by 4 cops. Result: cops acquitted. That is only the earliest incident of this epidemic. The cop in America can do no wrong. And if the victim is black? Hell...all the better.
This is a bad abscess...the perfect storm of what's wrong with America.
