Lynwood shooting: Video appears to show LA police firing at wounded suspect as he crawls away
A video has emerged purporting to show the moment two Los Angeles police officers shot and killed a suspect as he tried to crawl away. Police officials have confirmed the incident took place shortly before midday on Saturday in the Lynwood suburb of the Californian city. A brief statement from Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said the man, who has been named in local media reports as 28-year-old father-of-three Nicholas Robertson, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police spokesman Lieutenant Eddie Hernandez told KTLA-5 deputies responded to a number of calls reporting a person, described as a black man wearing a checkered shirt, carrying a gun.

Another person who moved when encountering police with guns. Doesn't anyone in the US ever learn anything?

Haha...what was the crime? Since authorities applaud guns, I assume it was the fact that he moved.

I haven't gone into it fully, except I read that the guy had a gun. It just amazes me that people still don't stand completely still with their hands up when faced with the police in the US.

Just to get executed? I don't think I'd stand still.

Attempting to flee could get you gunned down by the police - why do it?

We just don't live in an authoritarian dictatorship, Raggs. You would hope that citizens could stop and talk with police in a civil way. But (1) the police are not always civil (ref. the stop of Sandra Bland). And (2) there are emotionally disturbed people who present difficulties. But still, if we are paying the police, why not demand performance standards from them? You would if they were any other kind of specialist.
This is a more difficult case, however. The perp had a gun and could harm anyone, including the police themselves. But, they had the guy down. Was death the only way to separate the guy from his weapon? Suppose he was unconscious and could not 'drop the weapon'?
