She brought the Royal family into the modern era, she probably did more to popularise  British royalty overseas than anyone else has in the last 5 generations (apart from the queen herself)  She fought their disloyalty with the only thing she could....her own personality, which was caring and giving, mix this in with selfishness and the need to be wanted and loved, in other words...she was human.

Still she did an awful lot for AIDS and personally, I found that touching and much-needed at the time.

OMG....I just came in this thread to nominate her as well. Shocked

I was going to say her earlier too but started reading up again on Anita Roddick.

Diana was lovely. So very sad when she died x

And the car that hit her car (if this story is to be believed) which was 'proven' to be a White Fiat was not found till ages after....and even then not conclusively??
A normal hit and run car would have been found efficiently, yet the car which wiped out 3 people, including the most popular woman in the world, badly maiming a fourth person, and generating more publicity than any other RTA in living history.....tootled off undetected.Rolling Eyes

No she wasn't.
But ...had Charles not used an innocent girl as a breeder to ensure the royal family remained strong, had he looked after her and protected her from the 'establishment' who didn't care two hoots about her, and had he kept his **** in his trousers instead of carrying on with the ******* who he is now happily married to....none of this would have happened.

Has anyone been to the Diana memorial fountain? It's really nice. It doesn't look much from a distance but it's well worth going to. The water runs smoothly in some places, and then it tumbles in others - just like her.

And I'm sticking with Angela Merkel who history will show that she was one of the EU leaders who looked at the refugee problem for what is was - a humanitarian problem of epic proportions that deserved a better response from 26 other EU leaders who did pretty much nothing.

Yes, she made mistakes in thinking that the EU leaders would see the refugees problem as a humatitarian problem and take their fare share. How wrong she was.

Shameful.

35 Breathtaking Photos Taken By Women Throughout History

DOROTHEA LANGE/THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS
Taken by Dorothea Lange in 1936 during the Great Depression.

Photography is an integral tool that gives us a glimpse into a world of experiences that can be so different from our own. It allows us to connect with people and places we may never have come across otherwise.
A powerful image demands our full attention, but the perspective of the person who created it can tell an even richer story.
To celebrate Women’s History Month this March, we’ve collected 35 powerful images taken by photographers who are women. The images include Dorothea Lange’s iconic Great Depression photos and the war photography of photojournalist Anja Niedringhaus, who lost her life covering Afghanistan in 2014. These women and their work capture the human condition at its most honest.
Images can become as much a part of history as the moment they capture. And in that sense, women have been capturing history as long as they have been making it.
While it’s impossible to include every photographer we love on this list, take a look at 35 extremely talented women telling history through their lenses.
Images are listed from most recent to oldest.
