Fly past to celebrate 125th anniversary of iconic Forth Bridge

A fly past over the Forth Bridge is taking place to celebrate the 125th of the iconic structure.
A replica Spitfire and RAF Typhoon fighter jet will fly over the bridge at 1.25pm on Wednesday.
The bridge was opened by HRH Edward Prince of Wales on March 4, 1890, eight years after construction of the cantilever bridge started.
Designed by John Fowler and Benjamin Baker, it has carried trains between North and South Queensferry for 125 years.
At the peak of its construction, more than 4500 workers laboured on the bridge and 98 died during the building process.
As part of celebrations this year, 250 people will go up the bridge on guided tours.
A full-scale reconstruction of the bridge was completed in 2012 and it was nominated as a Unesco World Heritage site in 2014.

It was the first target for the Luftwaffe in WWII and the first engagement by the RAF against them.
A bit of a German aircraft fell on the roof of my Granny's house in Moorfield cottages just South East of Edinburgh, so I'm told.
