The Ahrar Centre for Detainees Studies and Human Rights has denounced the unfair imprisonment of Khaled Sheikh Mahmoud Hossam, detained now for 56 days in Ofer prison facility, near Ramallah.

Israeli Occupation Forces arrested the teenager from his house in Beit Anan, Jerusalem, charging him with stone throwing and burning of tires.

In an interview with Ahrar Centre, Hussam Al-Sheikh, Khaled’s father, has expressed concern over his son medical condition.

Khaled suffered from a severe form of anemia when his latest blood tests showed hemoglobin levels lower than 8.

Khaled’s father stress is justified by the fact that Palestinian detainees inside Israeli jails suffer from all kind of vexations and are usually subjected to abuse of power by prison guards.

The family of the young captive has denounced their impossibility to visit their son in prison, even after submitting an application for visits permission. So far, the family has seen Khaled once in court, during his last trial. Handcuffed and pulled by guards, the family was not allowed to talk to him or seek physical contact.

Khaled’s mother has appealed to Ahrar Centre, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and to all the the competent official and legal bodies, hoping to raise attention on her son’s discriminating arrest and demanding his immediate release from the Israeli jail.

The director of Ahrar Centre, Fouad Khuffash, has reported the continuous arrests of Palestinian children, a policy-trend pursued by Israelis in the latest decades. Nearly 300 children are currently detained in Israeli jails, the youngest being 8-year old Khatib, detained for 37 days in Hasharon prison.

Ahrar Centre is calling for action on the release of Khaled. The Centre has been long involved raising awareness on Palestinian prisoners’ conditions and pressing for their release and in accentuating the danger of remaining silent in the light of these crimes and human rights violations.

In the meantime, tenth grade student Khaled has already faced 3 trials, since his arrest on Christmas’ Day of the last year, and waits for the next planned session of his prosecution that will occur on 25 February.

It's a wonder he can stand up. Damn the Israeli Government, may it rot in hell for it's crimes against children.
